This is a post dedicated to The Butterfly Project Malaysia which I joined at the end of 2014. After blogging for over ten years (since 2003), I don’t know why I didn’t hear about them sooner, but I am super thankful since then to have been part of this blogging community birthed by Tammy Lim of Plusizekitten.com . Ever since then, I had been faithfully following their updates and trying my best to join all their events as The Butterfly Malaysia really opened up a world of opportunities for me especially in the category of beauty blogging. I must admit that before that, I do not even know what is serum or essence and I really don’t use any makeup when going out, but I had been learning so much just by attending the many beauty workshops and writing product reviews that now my table is all filled up with nothing but skincare and makeup, a large sum of them bought from Althea Korea.
Last weekend, The Butterfly Project together with Althea Korea threw a most amazing 3rd anniversary party at Delectable by Su located inside the amazing Glasshouse at Seputeh. Even amidst heavy rain and thunderstorm, the warmth of the place filled with happy butterflies did not sizzle. Yes, there’s something magical in the air at Butterfly Project events, it is unlike any other blogger event I had been. Butterflies truly love one another, and they are truly obsessed with mamasan Tammy. I guess in any successful community, there has got to be an inspiring yet humble leader that works hard to build others that is not for their own gain. Just like the name Butterfly, the community she has built is really about grooming bloggers of every age, eventually letting them grow to become beautiful butterflies that are released from the cocoon to fly high on their own. Tammy doesn’t hoard bloggers to herself but exposes them to brands and clients and allows them to craft a path of own way.
Things got even better when Tammy announced partnering with Althea Korea in June 2015. Althea Korea is an online shopping website that brings 100% authentic K-beauty products to South East Asia namely Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia and soon Thailand. I’m so glad though that The Butterfly Project is still running strong despite this new venture, in fact, it is probably even stronger now. Though I didn’t write much about the beauty products I had bought on this website, my advise is buy online from it! I had shopped on Althea more than 10 times and even my sisters are shopping on it now and a bunch of my friends too because you just can’t beat the price they offer anywhere else. Plus, I love their deals and promotions, especially when they have those buy 1 free 1 and price drop deals that is simply irresistible!
Before I veered off course, let’s recap how the party of the year kicked off that Saturday afternoon. We all met up at Delectable by Su, which is this rusty bungalow house with all glass walls, that gave off a bit of a industrial feel to the whole architecture. This place had lots of beautiful angles and it is naturally basked in sunlight.
We were greeted with a table spread with delicious pastries, the aroma just permeating the air and the cookies begging to be eaten.
The table was beautifully decorated with terrariums, but hey those are edible terrariums! What a surprise, Delectable’s signature dessert is actually this glass enclosed chocolate cake that looked like real plants, but everything inside it is edible. It was kind of fun digging into it and pretending that I was eating my greens that was super delicious.
We all received one Althea beauty box and were given a tiny cute apron to wear inside, made my Tammy’s mum, a family of creative talents I see.
Girls started doing what they do best, taking selfies and pics and OOTDS, whatever you name it.
Mamasan and her little helpers Anis and Alisa, even the CEO of Althea Korea, Frank, were all busy as bees making sure everything was up and running well. It was really nice to see the way these people worked so well and united together.
We kicked off the first activity of the day (yes there were a few activities to keep us on our toes) which was BB Cushion Decoration. In our beauty box was this cute Clay Art pack with little miniature desserts deco, so cute they looked like real.
I brought my favourite cushion of all, which was my IOPE cushion to be decorated. I was initially apprehensive about this, would I still use the BB Cushion after it was covered in cuties or would I want to just leave it at home as a table top deco? Whatever it may be, let me just try it out first.
So we did our BB Cushion deco masterclass with the guidance of senior butterfly Sabby Prue being a baker herself, and it was indeed a most fun and therapeutic activity. It was really like decorating a cupcake but using clay instead of real icing.
There were a few contests going on as well, one for the the best BB Cushion deco, another for the best insta post of the BB Cushion deco, and another for the best blog post later. It was all in the name of fun, a healthy competition amongst the butterflies, and I believe everyone actually went home with a gift by the end of the day.
Sabby had a really tough time choosing the best 20 out of 28, I wouldn’t want to be in her position coz they all looked mighty pretty. Nobody dared choose the last winner, and by that time, I also could not bear to watch already, but lo and behold I was the last winner! My simple and not very artistic deco actually won yay~! Happy can?
Check out all the 20 winning BB Cushion Deco! All so delicious and sweet looking.
Everyone received a Tony Moly Egg Pore Cooling Pack or Steam Balm for their effort, which was actually one of the first purchases I made on Althea last year. I love this Steam Balm as it is warming when applied and really opened up the pores to be scrubbed.
We also did a cookie decorating activity, well this time it was edible. There were so many types of cookie from chocolate ones to almond ones and there was even a flowing chocolate fountain that we could dip it into. If kids were around, they would go crazy. Tiny deco bowls were filled with colourful sprinkles, almond flakes, chocolate chips and more. It was definitely like going back to becoming a kid again.
A simple activity like this can be fun and rewarding somehow, after all, we get to eat it after it was done and it was simply more delicious when we had DIY the deco ourselves.
We were so spoilt that day when we were given a shopping spree worth RM150 credit to buy something on Althea Korea within 30 min! Well, being so smart, I already added what I wanted into my shopping cart prior to the event so I was pretty relaxed to finish shopping on time, else usually, I would take a really really long time to decided what I want, not because there was nothing I want on the site, but because I wanted everything on it! So this time, I just bought a new BB Cushion by Hera since I had not tried that brand before and I reordered Innisfree No-Sebum Blur Primer because it was really superb to keep sebum at bay and is the best primer I had tried so far. Really love Innisfree brand and is trying to slowly change everything I use to that brand if possible.
After all the fun and laughter, it was time for prize presentation by Frank the CEO to the winners of the best insta posts. Congrats to all the winners! Truly happy for them!
I forgot to mention that we all got extra freebies from the lucky dip activity by just submitting a survey form about how much we love Althea. So easy to get prizes at this event, cray. So our initial Althea beauty box ended up pretty filled up by the end of the day, and here’s a flatlay of the great stuffs I brought home that day. So thankful!
Happy Birthday once again The Butterfly Project and much love to Althea Korea for an awesome afternoon! (Pic credit to official photographer)
