Beauty and The Feast with Herbaline and Mama Kim Puchong

Untitled

After my previous visit to Herbaline Facial Spa in Pandan Indah, I was more than excited to visit another branch this time located in Puchong, just opposite IOI Mall. This Herbaline is very big and has a 2-in-1 concept of Spa and Restaurant side by side.

I was super impressed with how they do their interior deco previously at Sojourn Guesthouse and this time, it was no different if not better. Upon entry, I was greeted by a beautiful zen garden that immediately takes the stress away. Herbaline is excellent in details when it comes to creating the perfect atmosphere for their customers.

Untitled
These dazzling beauties ushered me into the lobby and consultation area. I was not there to do a full treatment but rather, to tour the whole place to see what services were on offer.

Untitled
The first room I entered was the foot spa area, where I got to keep my bag and shoes, signifying putting away the workload, and just sit at the basin for a warm salt and scrub for the feet for 5 min. Right next to it was the fish spa.
Untitled
Sea salt in itself has numerous benefits for our body, and this salty foot bath is great to sterilize our feet that had been walking around all day, probably sweating and creating bacteria. So that is why at Herbaline, the Foot bath is important to ensure that we will continue our treatment with clean and bacteria free feet!

Untitled
A few of their trained therapists were on hand to give us a shoulder and arms massage. I was surprised how relaxed I was after the short preview massage, I could just imagine what a full body massage would be like at the hands of these expert masseurs. They were really strong and able to press all the right points to relieve the strained muscles while still being gentle in conversation with me.

Untitled
I was then brought upstairs to check out the facial and massage rooms but before that we stopped by this amazing sea salt treatment room. It was my first time seeing such a room filled that was made to look like a vacation on the beach, but it was not sand it was sea salt.

Untitled
I was wondering if the salt would stick to our clothes but no it didn’t, so we just lied down and tried it out. Of course for the actual treatment, we would need to change into the robes and let the salt totally cover our bodies. I was told the sea salt treatment is great for weight loss and also removing water retention. I just googled online and found that sea salt has more than ten benefits for our skin, pretty amazing.

Untitled
Just outside the sea salt room, I could wash off the remaining salt on my feet before putting on their sandals.

Untitled
If we were doing the full body treatment, this was where we could take a good bath in privacy. This design really reminded me of the Japanese Communal bath houses or Sentō (銭湯) where you can sit on a stool and clean yourselves, so interesting, I really wanted to try it out. The shampoo, conditioner and bath gel provided were the same found in Sojourn Guesthouse and I could tell you they were of good quality, not the sort that mess up my hair after using.

Untitled
After getting cleaned up, customers could also use the vanity room for makeup and changing.

Untitled
All the treatment rooms have a standard room, and all are private except one couple room for massage and one for facials. Men that wants to come for treatment at Herbaline must come with a female, they do not except long male customers for safety concerns. Customers don’t have to worry about signing up exhorbitant packages here as the beauty centre’s facials that treat six different types of skin conditions are available ‘a la carte’ and they are priced well within a regular person’s budget, check these hydrogens beauty tablets ideal for skin care.
Untitled
We got back down to the lobby area to prepare for dinner at Mama Kim and found that one of the founder, Mr Low Chee Kwong already arrived. Too bad his wife, the inspiration behind the whole Herbaline and Mama Kim biz, Ms Liu Kim-Hwa was not with us, so wanted to meet her too.

Video of the day’s event!

Untitled
It was the feasting part of the program at Mama Kim located just next to Herbaline. I love this concept as my husband can wait and dine here while I do my massage and facial at Herbaline, so convenient.
Untitled
Mama Kim restaurant here is very large, can accommodate many more people. When I was at Pandan Indah Mama Kim, there was always a queue of customers outside, you can just imagine how many people love dining here.

Untitled

Mama Kim is well known for being healthy besides being super yummy; food served here utilise all 5 major colours, use only fresh ingredients without MSG, white sugar or white flour, is always balanced with less deep fried and less salt in the dishes.

Untitled
Our meal started off with this Healthy Salad, it was delicious with a tinge of sour and pretty filling for me as the portion was large.

Untitled
We also had the Natural Fruit and Flower Tea (RM10.50) which was really tasty and sweet. The tea is infused with apples, oranges, and passionfruit and was very refreshing and warming too.
Untitled
The main dish was of course the signature Sauna Mee. It was sizzling hot as the hot water was poured upon the hot stone filled with all kinds of vegetables.

Untitled
The sauna mee set came with a lemongrass drink that was warm and not diluted at all, very good for the body.
Untitled
Mr Low also came and joined us and addressed the bloggers present and told us how the whole biz got started with him and Ms Liu who love enjoying life by visiting nice hotels, nice restaurants and facial spas but a good yet affordable service was hard to come by in those days. They wondered why people needed to pay a fortune just to get a good meal, stay in a good hotel or get a good treatment. Thus, they started Herbaline and Mama Kim and then Sojourn Guesthouse as an alternative to expensive, high–end international beauty chains and as a low–cost, no–frills, individually–operated beauty salons. Their strategy is based on created a great customer service and experience and this had indeed being reflected in their growth from one outlet in 2000 to at least 58 outlets in 2016 all over the country.
Untitled
Dessert ended the feasting with the Black Glutinous Rice Soup laden with Santan or Coconut Milk.
Untitled
Herbaline is so generous, they even gave out lucky draw prizes and I was one of the blessed ones with this set of facial products worth RM488!
Untitled
These products can be bought here at Herbaline’s very own The Beau’ Store. It was indeed a fun spa party to relax us and fill up our tummies healthily!
