Ok, over the weekend I managed to finally sit down with Josiah and tried feeding him real food. As I’ve left some of my thinkbaby tableware at the baby sitter’s, aka the bowl and spoon, I have to make do with ikea’s bowl and this spoon I bought from Tinytapir.
By right this spoon is used for baby to feed himself from 1 year up, but I used it anyways to feed him and then I realised how wonderful the spoon is. There are many amazing features as stated on the website, such as
- promotes self-feeding through play
- mouth guard prevents gagging
- double-sided for left or right hand use
- curved handle aligns spoon with baby’s mouth
- BPA, phthalate & lead-free; flexible & durable
But for someone inexperienced as I am when feeding a baby that cannot stop moving, this spoon is a life saver as the mouth guard helps me not to push the spoon too deep to baby’s mouth. I was feeding him avocado mixed with a little bit of milk, and little as the food may be, it’s already quite messy.
Sometimes when I bring the spoon towards him, he will grab it and try to feed himself. He also likes it that I play while feeding him, I found that making the ‘zoom zoom’ sound with the spoon flying in, will make the little man laugh and thus open his mouth for the landing.
So far, he’s eating only a little. The whole Sunday he did not poo at all, so I started him on pears yesterday and for the next 4 days. It definitely helped, as he pooped this morning. Fruits starting with P all help with constipation, pears, plums, peaches etc, p for poo I guess!
