Watsons X Physicians Formula Beauty Workshop

Nude is the new glam, and that was exactly the look we want to achieve at a recent Physician Formula’s Beauty Workshop at Ben’s General Food Store, Gardens Mall. We were the first to get to use the new Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette for Face & Eyes and Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Makeup Shadow & Liner Nude Collection (Available in Classic Nude & Warm Nude) both of which will be available exclusively in Watsons Stores, Watsons Mobile and Online website by mid August.

What an honour to sit under the tutelage of Makeup Artist Jil Yong who is so gorgeous herself. Grace was a muse for the afternoon.

Anyways, we got to play with the wide array of Physicians Formula makeup, from eyeliners to face powder, lipstick to the amazing mascara which I adore.

This is the Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Makeup Shadow & Liner Nude Collection in Warm Nude which is more suitable for my skin type. The shades are not very pigmented, it’s shimmery and very light in order to give that nude glam look yet modern and sophisticated.

The box it comes with has an easy shortcut on how to apply the different shaefes. Though there are a total of 9 shades, I could actually mix and combine them to make 18 different custom shades with 6 different looks and liners.I love how the palette box is draped in lace. It comes with an Angled Pro-Brush Applicator which makes it easy to apply the colours.

For those that do not know how to do the looks, just refer to the box, it’s so easy. You can go with Natural, Playful of a darker shade for a Dramatic look. To use the darker shade as a liner, just wet the tip of the Pro-Brush Applicator and draw on the eye lids. We can use the brush wet for more dramatic, intense color with long-lasting wear or use DRY for a softer result which I prefer too. Ths box is small is easy to bring around, it is all one needs for some dazzling eye makeup from office to party. Retails at RM63.50.

Shimmer Strips All-in-1 Custom Nude Palette for Face & Eyes is a really special All in 1 product. There is this secret opening at the back with the face brush and angled brush and mirror attached. It also features tips on how to use the extensive colours for both the face and the eyes. Very useful for noobs like me!

The colours are very natural and shimmery. This multi-functional face-and-eye palette features 12 perfectly coordinated nude hues that can be used individually as eyeshadows and liners or blended together as a bronzer, blush or highlighter. This palette features pure pigment, flawless blending and a micropearlescent formula in an assortment of ultra-chic nude shades for the perfect Nude look. Jil Yong taught us how to swipe the face brush from Top Right Corner to Bottom Left and up the same way again from bottom left to top right a few times, and then directly apply it on our cheeks with the lighter shade on top and darker below, and this will immediately create a contour and highlight on our cheekbones. This is the best tip I got from her and I’ve been using it that way every day! I prefer using this palette for the face than for the eyes, for eyes the colours is really light. I love the square compact box that is easy to bring around in my handbag and doubles as compact mirror when I couldn’t find one. Retails at RM69.85.

I also received the Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Trio created for Hazel Eyes, so eyes like ours just perfect to use this. I like to use this to draw on my inner rim to create bigger eyes and drama. Jil Yong also taught us how to use the brown shade as eye primer, before putting on other eye makeup. It creates instant shadow and draw on and then blurred out. We just have to be careful when opening the cap as the crayon like liner head can easily snap off. Retails for RM72.41 at Watsons.

Thanks to Physicians Formula giving us a shopping voucher, I further bought the Youthful Wearâ„¢Cosmeceutical Youth-Boosting Spotless Foundation SPF 15 Light that comes with a brush and the Nude Wear Glowing Nude Touch of Glow concealer. Both the packaging of these two products are really unique!

The foundation comes in a glass bottle with Precision dropper that dispenses the perfect dose onto brush or sponge. The colour in Light somehow is still a bit dark for me, it turns out orangey on my skin, but after it oxides, it looks normal. Anyways, I always layer with BB Cushion and powder so it does even out. This foundation is special as it is also a serum and it is supposed to take years of my face rather than add years like usual foundations do. The concealer is a nifty little tool with a flow-thru brush applicator. Just twist the bottle cap and the concealer flows out, I guess this is better than a tiny sponge that tends to wear out fast. This concealer is great for covering dark circles and fine lines under the eyes and any other parts that need more coverage. I love how the it doesn’t clog skin as it is supposed to be in the nude, with a natural extract that allows skin to breathe.

I love how the look turns out after playing with all the products at the workshop and learning some tricks from Jil Yong.
