My Chinese New Year 2016 celebrations literally ended with a bang as I celebrated it with my family at MYDIN USJ x SJ Echo’s annual CNY Carnival and CSR event. It had been the 4th year running as Mydin Mall USJ appreciated the community of Subang Jaya with this carnival. By the way, SJ Echo is Subang Jaya’s free community newspaper.
The event started off with a kids art competition on stage with great prizes to be won. People from all over Subang Jaya and beyond gathered at the event and it was really a joyful time with the multiracial community in Malaysia. One can really feel the harmony in the air as families all come out and hang out together to be entertained with good music and good food.
The event was made even more meaningful with the specially invited guests from Seri Setia Old Folks Home at Sungai Way PJ. About 20 of them joined the event for a time of loh sang and dinner while being entertained by chinese yoyo stage performances, children’s dancing competition, magic mask change performance and a girl group singing beautifully. The event was also graced by YBhg. Dato’ Nor Hisham Bin Ahmad Dahlan, Yang Dipertua Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya, Ketua Polis Daerah Subang Jaya, Ketua Bomba & Penyelamat Daerah Subang Jaya and others VIP from the local council.
The old folks were also happy to receive red packets and goodie bags sponsored by Mydin to bring good cheer to them in this festive time.
Our kids were definitely most excited by the loud firecrackers and the acrobatic lion dance show which everyone enjoyed tremendously.
I also had the most interesting Yee Sang that was sponsored by Maggi. It was really made with maggi noodles inside and even have cornflakes, very very delicious in fact.
Looked like a normal Yee Sang on the surface but when we toss it we were all surprised that there were mee goreng inside.
Some of the stage entertainment going on that night. There was even a lucky draw for media and guess what I won! Well, just a blender but better than nothing right.
The public were treated with great food ranging from chicken rice, fried rice, singapore bee hoon, kueh tiaw, dimsum, red bean dessert, pastries and more at over 14 stalls set up at the carnival and all was FREE!
Loyal shoppers at Mydin really won big that night too! Those who spent just RM188 during the period from Feb 13-20 get to join the special lucky draw and you could see some of them even won large screen TV and refrigerators, you could see how happy and joyful everyone that won was.

This is the first time /i have heard of a MyDIN mall, I’m so sorry for my ignorance, but it looks really fun during the holidays. A friend of mine lives in USJ and I have not met up with her for a loooooooong time. It’s probably time to set up another meet up 🙂
Visited Mydin before CNY bought some stuff for family.
Would like to dropby more often since It’s not far away from my place.
