Mentholatum Launches All New Botanics Inspired by Nature

Mentholatum is no stranger to the beauty world with a host of brands under them that are pretty well known such as Lip Ice, Oxy, Hada Labo, Sunplay etc. Now, there will be a new brand inspired by Nature called Botanics. Botanics is a brand new facial care series that is amazingly good at a very affordable price. The ingredients used in the products are of high quality and derived from natural herbal essences from flowers and herbs which I love, as I always love using natural products that is not chemically manufactured. There are so many herbs and flowers that have hidden healing properties, the most well known in our garden being aloe vera which we use for any bites and cuts.

Basically, there are four ranges of products in the new Botanics brand, which is the tube face wash, the foaming wash, the pump wash and the sheet masks. There are four types in the tube face wash (100g at RM14.90) alone. The tube is small and easy to carry about so it’s great for those looking for something to travel with too. The Face Wash tube comes in 4 variants for different skin conditions, namely Hydra Whitening (pink), Pore Refining (Earth green), Deep Cleansing (Dark Green) and Hydrating (Orange). The facial wash all have very distinct fragrance of the main ingredients used. The tube wash has a flip cap that closes tightly and doesn’t spill. Packaging wise this is just great. I’m most attracted to the one for Deep Cleansing as it contains Ylang-Ylang and Tea Tree Extract that can help my skin balance the oil secretion, deep cleanse and purify pores. The tube face wash is also the only one with the Pore Refining range which I think I really need. This one contains Rosemary and Witch Hazel as well as lentil and green tea, know to help minimize pores while controling oil and fighting acne causing bacteria. I must get this at Guardian Pharmacy later for my trip this CNY.

There is another packaging type which is very popular, that is the Foam wash (160ml, RM25.90). The range comes in only Whitening Foam Wash (pink) and Oil & Blemish Control Foam Wash (Green). The special pump immediately pumps out the face wash as a foam.

I love using foam type on my skin, I don’t even need to add water while lathering, and somehow it is rather fun to use. The Oil Blemish Control Foam wash also uses Ylang-Ylang and Tea Tree Extract, and an additional Wild Pansy ingredient meant to curb blemishes. I tried this on my hand and the scent of lemongrass is strong and very refreshing, washing the face will be so much more relaxing with this after a long day at work. This works great for oily and combination skin like mine. The other one is for whitening with the Aloe Extract and Narcissus that brightens and cleanses at the same time.

The third type is the Pump Wash (150g, RM21.90). It comes in the Deep Clean Face Wash and Moisturising and Brightening Face Wash. Actually, the Deep Clean range is exactly the same ingredient as the Tube face wash Deep Cleaning Wash, just that it is in a pump bottle. However, the pink one Moisturizing and Brightening is different on its own, it is the only one that contains Rosehip Oil rich in Vitamin C and Pearl Extract for improving skin’s luminosity.

After having a cleansed face, we must do some mask! Sheet mask is all the rage these days and I really do have a stock of them in my fridge, as I like putting them on cold. Botanics have 5 types of sheet mask, Lavender for soothing, Rosemary for Pore Refining, Pomegranate for Anti-Oxidant, Rosehip Oil for Brigtening, and Aloe Vera for Hydrating (RM6.90 per 22ml pouch). We kind of need all five for everyday use for our skin. All the sheet mask is also infused and enriched with Hyaluronic Acid to repair and rejuvenate our skin while we relax. Five types for Monday – Friday, just nice right?

During the road show in One Utama with Butterfly Malaysia Project, we even get to make our own tea with the different types of herbs and flowers. It was nice and I really enjoyed my DIY tea.
