I’ve always been an advocate of anything about going Green, coz I strongly believe as Christians we should be responsible citizens of this Earth and take good care of its resources. Well, my very good friend started this website called Eat Green Go Green. Actually, this site is more about just eating green hehe. I was particularly interested in her introduction to Green Smoothies.
Green smoothie is basically a drink that you blend a selection of Green leafy raw vegetables together with your choice of fruits, from an unlimited selection such as bananas, dragonfruit, grapes, kiwi, apples and the list goes on. At first thought, it might sound yucky..what? Raw vegetables? Guess what, it’s actually quite yummy, thanks to the sweetness from the fruits.
I started blending my own green smoothies for the last week and bringing it to work to drink, about 1 litre of it. It feels good that I’m upping my intake of vegetables and fruits, there were days when I didn’t even have time to peel and apple and eat it. It’s a no brainer that this is healthy food. My friend compiled a whole list of recipes on her website on the kinds of vege and fruits to mix together. I didn’t really use it coz I just dump in whatever vegetables and fruits I have in the fridge. Only certain root vegetables are not permitted.
You must be asking what are the benefits? Well in the long run, raw vegetables are supposedly to be prevention for a whole list of diseases, such as cancer, osteoporosis, constipation etc. I don’t really care about these diseases, I just care that it’s going to be good for health, plus my friend claims that many of her friends lost weight after 2-3 months, that’s a plus plus point! 😛
Ya, raw vegetables and fruits are really good to our body, blending it and making them into juices will increase the absorption in our body, but do remember to clean your raw vegetables and fruits completely as most of the veges and fruits today contain a lot of harmful chemical & pesticides on it. =)
Yea due to that, I only use organic greens
