Week 3 with Josiah

At day 18, the nurses came to my house for the last time to take Josiah’s weight. At the time, he weigh 3.9kg, getting chubbier now. He’s getting bigger very fast, and I think soon he can’t wear his newborn rompers anymore. Josiah has now developed some kind of schedule, though I think this will change quite often with age. The nights are actually easier easier to handle than day time. At nights, he wakes up every 2.5-3 hours to feed. He usually doesn’t cry loudly immediately, but will make funny sounds in his crib to wake me up. He’ll start rooting, so I’ll know he wants to be nursed. The nursing time normally lasts 1 hour and then we’ll go back to sleep. In between, diapers need to be changed too.

The mornings and afternoons are harder to handle, sometimes he doesn’t go to sleep in hours. When nursed, it sometimes takes more than an hour, which obviously tire me out completely. I still supplement with formula, but now down to 1 bottle a day especially when I’ve nursed for hours and he still doesn’t seem satisfied.

Josiah is also beginning to recognise his daddy coming home time, and he recognises it as a time to be awake so daddy can play with him. Unfortunately, mummy is too tired everytime to play, I only know how to feed him.

I guess at the moment life as a baby is all about eating, sleeping and pooing….

  1. leona..
josiah is certainly getting bigger and cuter!
btw, does he sleep in aircon room?
cause i notice a picture of him sleeping without blanket..

  2. We don’t really turn the aircond on all the time, only when it’s really hot. Even so, we use pretty high degree just to cool out the air. Josiah is mostly hot than cold, sometimes sweating…so we don’t really use a blanket anymore, only when he was younger. If he’s cold, we’d swaddle rather than use blanket, coz it’s better to have less movable things in the cot that have tendency of covering the face while sleeping.
