Yes it’s still the month of Syawal and the celebration carries on! Guardian, the leading pharmacy, health and beauty retailer had cordially invited us bloggers to their open house event last Wednesday held at the Grand Ballroom, One City, Subang.
The children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Perlindungan Nur Qaseh Malaysia, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-anak Yatim Al-Nasuha, and Pusat Jagaan Baitus Sakinah Wal Mahabbah were the VIP guests at this event, and lots of activities were held just to bring out the joy of this special month for the young ones.
There was the Caricature Station with two of Malaysia’s well known artists drawing amazing portraits for each and everyone of the children.
It was a delight to see their faces light up and their smiles formed when they realise the portrait looks just like them. I love the caricature portraits, it was drawn with such talent and character of the children shone in them.
There was also a Ketupat Weaving Station.
Children really loved the activity as I could see them crowding this counter and trying their hands in this traditional activity.
So it was time to enter the ballroom for many more activities and events planned out for the night.
It was an amazing time as we were entertained by beautiful traditional dances, settling the guests into a joyous celebrative mood.
The evening was further accentuated with festive entertainment and antics by celebrities that included singer and actor Sean Ghazi, host Nazrudin Rahman, actor and singer Aiman Hakim Ridza, former radio announcers JD and Dilly, as well as former 3R TV hosts – scriptwriter Rafidah Abdullah and Director of iM4U FM Kartini Kamalul Ariffin.
Naz played the perfect host by making the otherwise formal event lively and fun by injecting his sense of humour. Sean Ghazi, what can I say, his smooth jazzy voice to the tunes of Raya songs effortlessly lifted up the atmosphere of the night, allowing the media and guests to enjoy the amazing dishes served while relaxing in each other’s company.
Meanwhile, we enjoyed a festive fare of sayur lodeh, rendang, serunding, lemang, ketupat, and traditional desserts such as dodol and wajik.
Marketing Director of Guardian Health and Beauty Sdn Bhd, Christina Low said, “For many Malaysians, when it comes to festive seasons, the first thing that comes to mind is balik kampung! I learnt from my Muslim friends and colleagues that traveling back to one’s kampung, is special in many ways. Apart from spending time with our elders, they also get to observe traditional practices, many of which are special to each kampung. When you spend festive seasons here in the city too often, it is very easy to forget these traditions,â€
“With that in mind, we at Guardian Malaysia made a commitment this year to help you keep traditions alive with today’s line-up of activities. From the traditional Hari Raya fare to ketupat weaving, we hope these will go a long way in making the festive season an extra warm and exciting one for the children,†added Christina.
Guardian Malaysia also presented each home with RM10,000 in Guardian vouchers, which can be used to redeem essential items such as toiletries, personal care and hygiene products, pharmaceutical items as well as medical aid for the children.
What a blessing and joy it was to celebrate Aidilfitri with family, friends, the beloved children and especially with Guardian Pharmacy.
