If you live in Malaysia, you would have known a thing or two about the horrors of the public toilet, and may I say, particularly the female public toilet. Even in high class shopping malls, the toilets may not mirror the value of that jacket in that designer shop. Can you imagine if a shopper bought really a expensive long flowy dress and had to use the public toilet and the floors were all wet and the seats covered in footsteps? That is the usual norm shoppers face daily in mall public toilets, and we have not even talked about those public toilets found in parks, train stations, petrol stations and more which are 100% worse in condition.
This it is pretty awesome when Kleenex® decided to run an independent online survey just to better understand the public toilet experiences and habits of people in Malaysia and to better help Malaysians survive public toilet inconveniences. The survey polled some 1,160 women and men in Malaysia.
The Challenges of Using Public Toilets
Three out of five Malaysians actually do not like using public toilets, due to issues such as wet, dirty floors or toilet seats, clogged or unflushed toilets, and lack of water or clean water and toilet paper. Most of the participants complained about dirty water hoses (60%) and no toilet paper in most toilets (37%). Some people went as far as modifying their behaviour just to avoid visiting the toilet when they are out. I know that is the truth as my parents are like that too. They just won’t drink water when out shopping just so they won’t need a toilet until they reach home. Four out of five surveyed said the same and some even bring their own cleaning water wherever they go.
Celebrity brand advocate Jihan Muse said, “Surviving a public toilet is like being in an epic tragicomedy – you should see me in my high-heeled sandals and long, flowing dress, trying to juggle shopping bags, negotiating the wet floor while holding my dress up and hoping I don’t drop anything!â€Â True enough, survey results showed that a majority of Malaysians (67%) think that what they wear as well as the things they carry around make it inconvenient to clean themselves properly in public toilets. “Proper maintenance aside, I feel public toilets in Malaysia would be much better if we could treat them the way we treat our own personal space. So if you make a mess, clean it up; don’t step on the seats; wipe up any spills and for the love of all things decent, do flush properly!†added Jihan.
That is where Kleenex® come in with their all new Wet Toilet Tissue as an answer to all the toilet issues.
The New Standard of Personal Cleaning Solution with Kleenex®
This is Kleenex little pack of simple solution that can be used conveniently to wipe dirty toilet seats as well as wipe yourself after. What makes it different from normal wet wipes is that it is very safe, safe enough to be used even for kids, plus it can be flushed down the toilet without clogging.
According to the survey, one in two respondents believe that using wet tissues is the most ideal solution as opposed to having to go through the inconveniences of dealing with situations when there is no water or toilet paper available. “Kleenex® Wet Toilet Tissues is the first of its kind in Malaysia, made with consumers’ out-of-home cleaning needs in mind. Its compact packets are easy to carry around and easy to use – just wipe and flush,†said Mr Raman Tarun, Marketing Director, Kimberly-Clark Malaysia. “Sometimes we don’t realize how a tiny addition like this in our bag can make such a huge difference – it’s just like personal hygiene in a pocket.â€

The illustrations are too good. I try to be as careful as possible while using public toilets. They can be really horrible!
great! i personally only use the tissue provided to wipe, guess that’s not hygienic enough, but beggars can’t be choosers. ><
