P1 W1max expanded down South

I’ve heard much of P1 W1max and can’t wait for them to get to Kajang. Currently they’ve moved to Johor as report in the Star over the weekend.

“P1 will expand the coverage of P1 WiMAX to Skudai, Batu Pahat, Muar, Segamat and Kluang by the end of 2009 and Yong Peng in 2010,” said Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (P1) chief executive officer Michael Lai at the launch of P1 WiMAX here yesterday.

Looks like P1 is aggressively marketing wimax to other parts of Malaysia already, from north to south. Well, more expansion is better than no expansion at all. I heard that YTL wimax will only start to launch next year in 2009, plus only in the 4th quarter. Apparently Yeoh of YTL has a very different outlook on how to roll out things…

“We would rather not do it by bits and pieces but roll it out nationwide (at one go) in the last quarter of 2009,” Yeoh said after the signing ceremony between YTLe and Cisco Systems (M) Sdn Bhd.

Oh well, both companies have super different ideas, whether to do it bit by bit or in one shot. Some surveys would need to be done to see what customers prefer, getting excited over a product that’s not in store yet, but only in some places, or no excitement until the full launch of the product and everyone gets it at one shot. What is your view on this? Personally, I guess I prefer the bit by bit launch despite the fact that waiting for something is frustrating, but at least you get to see reviews of others first before jumping in the bandwagon.
