Recently, P1 Wimax launched another campaign, the Pay Nothing Now campaign. Now, read that carefully, it does not mean pay nothing at all…
The pricing basically is the same, with the free modem if you sign up for P1 Wimax 1200 or P1 Wimax 2400 for at least 1 year.
Now the good thing about this is, you don’t have to pay the upfront RM100 registration fee. This amount is only reflected in your first month bill. The total of activation fee RM50 and Stamp duty of RM10 will also be reflected only in the first bill, while the month charges of RM99 or RM229, depending on your package, will be prorated. Installation fees of RM80 is optional, since the modem is plug and play..there shouldn’t be a problem to install it yourself. Sign up for a self-care account and you won’t even need to pay the RM5 paper bill. So total max first month bill is RM259 for the 1200 package for a year. Your following month’s bill with be RM99. There’s also a 15-day trial, if you’re not happy with the service after 15 days, you don’t have to pay anything to cancel the service.
Now that’s actually a lot less than Streamyx..even for the Streamyx Combo. If you do not have a phone line and you want to use Streamyx Combo, you still have to subscribe to a TM phone line first, and the costs just for the phoneline is as follows:
(i) RM75 deposit
(ii) RM10 stamp duty
(iii) RM50 connection fee (The charges shall be waived if subscribe together with Streamyx Combo)
(iv) Call usage (if any)
Then you can subscribe to Streamyx combo, and only on the next bill will the phoneline rental charges be waived. For a combo package of 1Mbps..monthly charges are RM110 with free modem. However, some hidden charges are as follows:
(i) RM75 activation fee
(ii) RM88 installation fee (waived if you subscribe to Streamyx-in-the-Box)
(iii) RM10 stamp duty fee
(iv) 1st and 2nd month subscription fee advance payment.
(v) Call usage (if any)
So, your first month Streamyx Combo bill goes up to at least RM305. Streamyx combo is a minimum 12 month contract too. Plus, there’s no trial period, you can’t terminate this package after subscribing to it, unless you’re willing to pay a penalty, which is not state how much.
Ouch! Never expected applying for a new Streamyx line would actually cost that much. Coz I was planning on getting another line as I can’t bear sharing my Internet connection while Internet gaming.
Oh yeah, through my research there’s a chance a new applicant may need to pay more for ‘pulling’ the line to their modem location if the line isn’t long enough. Or, something like that.
yeap, there’s an additional charge which you have to pay the technicians directly when they come and install your line, and they calculate according to the Meter you want, for eg. when I had mine done at home, I wanted to have my phone upstairs and downstairs, so they charge me extra for having another line upstairs when I want the modem to be. That one have to pay immediately..maybe masuk pocket.
Hmmm, hidden charges here and there, I’m still waiting for the 2.4Mbps to drop to RM100. 🙂
