More than half a year after our wedding, we decided to take the digital prints and print our own coffee tabe book. I had a previous experience printing photobooks herewith Pixart.com.my, but this time I decided to go with Photobook.com.my simply for their better package of more pages at a worthy price. I decided to take up their recent Christmas deal with the A3 size 40 pages coffeetable book at RM230 compared to RM290 at the normal rate.
I was pretty pleased with the service, very personalised. At first I had some confusion on how to connect my payment with my order upload as I had paid using Paypal instead of credit card, but after some emailing, the guys at Photobook manage to get me fast answers. In fact, I even wanted to put a specific picture for the front cover which would normally be chargeable but they did it for me for free.
Just after Christmas, the courier service, Citylink called me to tell me of the package. They had come to my office but nobody was around. So, they called to make sure somebody would be around the next day. However, I couldn’t wait, so I decided we should get it at the office ourselves, which is really just in Kajang town.
So the package arrived! I was really excited to see how the printing turned out. Mind you, I had spent a whole night editing and arranging the pics to make sure they look like a continuing story and had the best effects…but well, actually I rushed it through, so I was really anxious to see the end result.
All Photobooks come in this nicely customised brown box for protection, with a sticker on it. In it, I have my photobook and a little note pad, I presume, made from leftover materials?
First thing I did was to ensure that the book can actually lie flat as promised, well, it was not as flat as I had expected, but it was ok, much better than my Pixart book.
I like the new cover design, where a picture of your choice is embossed in the front, by default though, the picture from the first page will be used. A picture of your choice would come with a fee.
I love the printing! The pictures are brilliant, and the paper they used are not the glossy kind, but kind of matte. So it was good to the eyes and good to the touch.
The binding looks sturdy enough. I can’t really tell if this would last for years to come, but I really hope so! Hopefully it lasts for generations…
If you treasure your photographic memories, photobooks like these are the way to go, it’s a very different experience compared to viewing individual 4 R printed photos…which I also do for my own personal captures…but with coffee table books like these, your photos come alive!
