Kuching Food!

I ate so much while I was back in Kuching weeks ago. I had the pleasure of bringing Joanna around to try out most of the famous local foodies. Sigh…all I have now are the pics!

kuching food - ABC

Kuching ABC, really different.

kuching food - Beehoon belacan

Belacan Bee Hoon, cooked with Tauhu and Cuttle Fish

kuching food - kolo mee

Kolo Mee with Wantan, Just the way I like it.

kuching food - sarawak laksa

Sarawak Laksa Bee Hoon. This wasn’t the best place I went.

Tomato kuehtiaw

Tomato Kueh Tiaw … none like it.

Char siew - roasted pork

Char Siew..pork. This is why Kolo mee is also red in colour.

kuching food

Gelatin Ice Cream at Scoop

kuching food - banana ice cream

Banana Flame with Peach Ice Cream at Scoop

kuching food - gelatin bailey's choc icecream

Joanna ordered this. If you’re going to Scoop, I’d say this is the best. It’s Chocolate and Bailey’s Ice Cream with Bailey’s sauce. Yum…

Are you from Kuching??? I’ve eaten most of the dishes you listed except for the Belacan beehoon and ice-cream at Scoop.

Next time we go back, I’m gonna snap, snap, snap pics too coz Hubby will always bring me to his favourite old schoolboy outlets LOL

Hi… I would be visiting Kuching soon and i would like to gather some info about the place esp food. haha. Happen to chance upon ur website.

The ice cream at scoops looks nice n good. Can i know where to locate it? I heard faves about the ice kachang and kolo mee too. Is there any nice good food to eat or shop near the waterfront area cos our accomodation should be around there or what’s the best mode to move around?

And do u have any idea of any nice local food near the waterfront area or in any case, how can we move around to the nice food places that u have mentioned esp Kolo mee and ice kachang? Thanks!

Hey Mel, Scoop used to be behind Parkson, near to Hilton amongst rows of shops, but it moved to Jln Laksamana Cheng Ho. For Ice Kacang, and Belacan Bee Hoon, you can go to Wisma Saberkas top floor there’s a cafe called Stone something. For Kolo Mee, I recommend Jln Green, or Hui Sing Food Court, where you can eat like everything else there, including my fav clam fried kueh tiaw, loads of good food found also in Tabuan Jaya. Or since you’re around town area, might as well look for Chong Choon Cafe, Abell Road for Laksa. To get around Kuching, you really need a car. Taxis only gather at hotels seriously. At Waterfront area, there are only Halal stalls, however you should get some Kek Lapis there. For seafood, go to Topspot, it’s on top of a carpark building.
