Who doesn’t know Old Master Q or better known as Lao Fu Che (è€å¤«å). I still remember reading this comic when I was really little and not having to understand any chinese to be able to laugh along with it. My dad loves buying the comics for us to read. I can’t believe that Old Master Q is still famous after all these years, even the new generation kids still know this character and still loves the comics so much. To walk down memory lane, there is no better place than at First World Plaza, Resorts World Genting. Old Master Q characters together with Big Potato 大番薯,  Mr Chin, Ms Chan and Mr Zhao will all be performing at the Times Square stage for Chinese New Year starting 9 Feb – 29 Feb 2016. The show had not started when I was there last weekend, but I still managed to meet the two famous guys when they happened to be walking about the exhibit area.
When they appeared, all the shoppers started surrounding them for a selfie pic! We managed to get our family in the pic but I think I don’t know how to use the HTC Re, so my angle is so out. Throughout the CNY Season, fans of Old Master Q would not want to miss seeing him and  Mr Big Potato, as they engage in various Chinese New Year festivities like lion dance, Ang Pow distribution, meet-and-greet session and live show performance. I personally received ang pao from Mr Big Potato during one of the events I joined there.
The exhibit area is very nicely done with so many 3D photo opportunities too. The characters are literally brought to life with large printings on all the walls.
The whole place looked like a street from 1960s Hong Kong where the comic is set. This comic is actually created by Alfonso Wong who actually started in drawing by creating artwork for bibles and church magazines! Imagine that…
John was most happy to see that there was an old bicycle prop, and it is actually a real bike that one can ride on.
This is probably how an old cinema counter looks like back in those days.
You can imagine yourself being the lounge singer together with Old Master Q as your background vocalist.
How about riding a real trishaw with the kids? My trishaw man is so small though.
I am pretending to make and sell herbal medicine to my boys. Maybe they are too young to take those meds, but it was fun to just pretend.
Josiah really admired the comics and found it too funny…it was really his first time meeting Old Master Q as we had yet introduce him to this comic, but maybe it is about time to pass on the legacy haha. I think ‘reading’ this comic is a great way to intro the kids to the Chinese culture too.
In the comic Old Master Q is always the cheeky and naughty one while Potato Head is always a bit blur…the mascots really played them true to the character. Old Master Q loves to mess up people’s hair while Potato Head is a little clumsy and walks really slowly about. Hang around Genting First World Plaza in order to catch them LIVE.
We also redeemed this nice big badge just by posting and tagging our pics in Facebook with #masterq and @ResortsWorldGenting. At the Hong Kong Old Street Decoration Booth at Universal Walk. Old Master Q limited edition membership card will be available for newly signed up Genting Rewards members. Over at the Merchandise booth, fans can buy limited edition key chains, special edition ang pow packets, mug, drawstring bag and limited original Master Q comic books. Limited edition Master Q sculptures will also be on display. Sign up coz there are just so many benefits ya. I will be heading back in Feb just to watch their performances!
