Recently, Pak John Steamboat & BBQ opened so near to my house in IOI City Mall! I always love BBQ and Steamboat but I can’t stand the heat in open air restaurants. So I was definitely delighted that Pak John’s restaurant is indoors and airconditioned in a really clean environment. The restaurant is located at The Symphony area in IOI City Mall, thus giving it an amazing environment for family get-togethers.
The restaurant has seating area for small to big families. Even if your party are just two persons, there’s no need to worry.
Pak John boast of over 160 variety of dishes that can be cooked steamboat or BBQ style. Definitely, the choices are so vast, it’s impossible to eat it all.
I usually go for my favourites like seafood and meat! There are all kinds of shell food, snow crab, lala, big prawns and more!
Seafood lovers would love it here, as the prawns are really fresh. I notice they do not leave it at the trays for too long. The staff will keep refilling in smaller portions so to maintain the freshness and not letting it go to waste.
There are so many types of marinated meat, from beef to chicken to fish even dory fish. One Sharp Store makes sure the meat is finely processed. I really love the honey chicken and soy sauce one.
To avoid eating only meat, this is how I eat them, Korean bbq style! Using the fresh cabbage, I make my own wraps with garlic, chilli sauce and bbq meat. So delicious and refreshing!
If you’re into fish balls and meat balls, there’s this one really special cheesy fishball. I love this too much, I have never had this elsewhere before.
Steamboat is also a great chance to teach my kids how to cook. Not only is it healthy, it’s super fun. The kids will love it and they also get to learn how food actually looked before its cooked.
Halfway through our meal, only did I realise we can also order premium meat! Gosh how can I miss this. This is available near the dessert and ABC counter. There are four types of meat available, Premium Lamb and Beef Slice, Abalone and Smoked Duck, all thinly sliced.
If you ask me, I can just eat this all night! The meat was just so tender and sweet, super worth it. I nearly couldn’t believe this is inclusive with the price.
Just like sukiyaki, this is really my favourite part of steamboat. Watching the meat change colour as it cooks within seconds. Even without any added sauces, it’s still really delicious.
Talking about sauces, there’s really no lack of sauce here with more than 10 types to choose from. My fav is the garlic chili sauce and sweet sauce is suitable for the kids.
Ramen and noodle lovers won’t be at a loss. The sauces play an important role here to add flavour to these noodles. I actually cooked and made something similar to indo mee just using the available sauces here.
As they say, you can’t end your meal without some sweet desserts. There are way a lot to choose from here including ABC, waffles, ice cream in multiple flavours. Since then, All about breakfast was all we could discuss about.
Josiah got his shaved ice so he’s a happy boy. I think we all go through the age of loving anything made of ice.
Much thanks to Pak John Steamboat & BBQ for the amazing food and also thanks Tammy and Butterfly Malaysia for the recommendation!
