How to Save Time with UberEATS

Food delivery was unheard of last century, but it certainly is a necessity nowadays. Well, I’m not talking about the tingkat delivery that I literally grew up eating. We are talking a huge selection of meals from banana leaf to poke bowls from various restaurants that you can order from the comfort of home. So I was at Uber HQ recently to check out the newly launched App. If you’re familiar with Uber, you will familiar with UberEATS quickly. It’s pretty much the same way one would order a car, but you’re ordering food instead. So far, it’s only available within KL but I guess it will be available all over Malaysia pretty soon.

First things first, let’s download the app either on Appstore or Google Play Store.

This app is very nifty and easy to browse about even for beginners. Food is all about visual right..so they got it right. I am presented with an array of restaurant types just by looking at pics.

I was craving for something raw, something like sashimi, something Japanese so I settled for Eatomo even though it was a little far away. The app actually showed restaurants that are able to prepare your meal for under 30 min. It’s ok, Eatomo just added another 10 min, hungry me was able to wait that day. So I chose the Poke Bowl. I must admit that prices were a bit steep. I hope UberEATS gets more budget restaurants in future considering that I needed to pay RM5 for delivery charge too. The price one would pay to not have to go out I guess.

So after ordering, the app will show how long it takes for the food to arrive and the steps happening then. For example it would show Preparing Your order or delivery in progress to keep me at peace. My order showed about 34 min to arrive.

By the way, UberEATS deliver by motorbikes so we don’t have to wait too long, you know, cars stuck in jams and delayed dinner will make us really H(ANGRY). I heard that in some countries, UberEATS deliver on foot, so the guy who delivers your food gets to exercise as well, how neat. The animation on screen even shows the little motorbike, so cute.

So I’m quite impressed with UberEATS delivery. I ordered my dinner from the 11th floor of a corporate tower and they told us that they will deliver right to our door. The delivery man will actually take the trouble to register wtih the with security, go up the lift etc just to deliver a one pereson’s meal. So these were the guys at my door, all smiley and happy to let me snap a pic. Thanks guys!

So my meal came in a paper bag, very eco friendly.

My salmon sashimi Poke bowl was really delicious. I hope to see more variety of UberEATS restaurants and more area covered in future. UberEATS is really convenient, and it also ties in with Uber app so I can order my dinner while Ubering home and making sure my meal arrives as I arrive home too.
