The school holidays in Malaysia just started last Saturday, and this will be our longest holiday of the year that will go on until early 2016. There are so many things we can do in Malaysia with the kids during the holidays without burning a hole in our pockets. One of them is going to the themepark, and the one that is nearest and just a drive away for us living in Klang Valley is Sunway Lagoon!
Sunway Lagoon had started the “Waves of Fun” campaign since 21 November 2015 and it will continue till 3 January 2016 with great exciting activities suitable for the whole family. Why not join us for a splashing good time? We were there just last Saturday to start off our school holidays and there is no joy like seeing the smiles and laughter on the boys’ faces.
Be early as there’s always a lot of people here. Doors open at 10am but at 9.55am, early birds will be greeted with an energetic and fun opening dance performance and also a meet-and-greet session with the park’s professional dancers, clowns, stilt walkers, famous icon characters such as Peter Pan, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson and Sunway Lagoon’s very own iconic mascots – Captain Quack and Lady Quack! Watch my short video below for some dancing action we managed to catch while having our lunch in Burger King inside the park.
We actually spent quite a long time at the carousel near the park entrance as Jordan wanted to ride on it over and over again! I do not mind as long as he is happy.
There was also a small playground nearby that the kids get to climb about.
It was quite a hot day so we decided to head to the surf beach for some splashing fun.
Usually it is hard to take pictures when there’s water around, but thankfully we brought along John’s HTC Re that is waterproof. Else, there’s always Sunway Lagoon’s professional photographer that can snap some pics for you, watch out for them at the wave pool too.
Check out this Flowrider, Malaysia’s first right there at the surf beach. It’s great to practice your surfing form on this massive machine. If you want some adrenaline rush, there will be a public wave session with waves as high at 8-feet from 2.30pm to 4.30pm here at the Surf Beach. There are even Beach volleyball games for the sporty ones.
Since it’s a beach area, kids will definitely like to play with the sand and build some castles maybe.
From 12.00pm to 5.30pm as Sunway Lagoon Water Park turns up the heat with a b-boy (breakdancing) dance performance, DJ pool party, a Carnival Parade, and a Marching Band, specially presented by Sunway Lagoon events team. It was so fun and entertaining to watch the dance while we swim.
There are so many rides here at Sunway Lagoon, World’s Largest Water Ride – Vuvuzela, First Waterplexx 5D, Malaysia’s First FlowRider and many other great attractions. We love to walk around the Waters of Africa too, it’s not too deep even for our kids.
There is no lack of places to eat here in Sunway Lagoon, from fast food to nice eateries or coffee places. We were famished after playing in the water so it was time to load up before continuing our fun times at the Wild Life Park.
The Wildlife park is an amazing mini zoo which is not too big but yet has the most unique animals living here.
There is even a very entertaining Wildlife Multi-Animal Show at 3.00pm in Wildlife Theatre where they can see cute and cuddly animals like small toothed palm civet, ball python and parrots performing little tricks.
We can up close and personal with the cute animals who have made Sunway Lagoon their home. (Throwback pic)
These include a new pair of White Lions, Zola and Zuri. Aren’t they majestic? I love love love them. The white lions are an amazing addition to the Sunway Wildlife Park’s recent expansion plans that provide us the opportunity to learn more about wildlife.
The Sunway Lagoon Wildlife Park also promotes messages on how we can help to stop poaching and cruelty of animals. Since Josiah can now read, he learned so much just reading from the many posters here.
Tigers are just as beautiful too. Guess I love all things cat. I also love the animal’s sanctuaries, they don’t live in cages but they live in wide open areas made to look like real natural surroundings. The big cats just love to laze around and take their naps.
The more daring and adventurous amongst visitors should not miss the ever popular Lynton V. Harris’ Scream Park in Sunway Lagoon! Since my boys are too young, (and actually I am faint at heart) we did not to enter the scream park nor the more crazy rides available here. Among other supernatural experiences, visitors can delve into a world of cryonics with frozen bodies coming to life at Kevil Hill Cryonic Corporation, which just opened its doors for the first time ever in Malaysia!
I am so afraid of that, that maybe riding this is my cup of tea.
Or literally, this, the spinning cup ride. Thankfully, the boys and I do not have motion sickness.
In fact, they look completely calm during the ride!
“With the school holidays around the corner, Malaysians do not have to travel very far to seek quality fun and excitement for the whole family. To align with the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia initiative, we have prepared new range of activities as well as promotions to encourage Malaysians to explore the exhilarating offerings right in their own backyard,†said Sean Choo, General Manager of Sunway Lagoon.
He added that Malaysians celebrating their birthdays will enjoy FREE admission into Sunway Lagoon for a period of a week from their birthday, along with a meal voucher worth RM10, redeemable at F&B outlets within the park. Sunway Pals members also get a free double tube to add to the merriment. Knowing that no celebration is complete without a party, Sunway Lagoon will also offer a 30% discount off the entrance fee for up to four accompanying guests of the birthday boy or girl.
Aside from birthday celebrations, Sunway Lagoon also offers special promotion to celebrate senior citizens. Malaysian senior citizens over the age of 60 are able to enjoy Sunway Lagoon for FREE. I should so bring my parents here! To further celebrate the merriment, visitors will get to enjoy 30% off on normal admission rate via Sunway Lagoon two online promotion packages :
Family Packages:
2 adults 2 kids: RM378
With complimentary RM10 retail voucher and meal voucher.
4 To Go*.:
