Chinese New Year is still far away, but you know, it is not easy to book a table for your reunion dinner in the last minute, and I am about to share with you how you can save more if you book now under the early bird offering at China Treasures, located at Sime Darby Convention Centre.
SDCC will be ushering the Year of the Fire Monkey with festive set menus from 1 Nov – 31 Dec 2015. Early bird vouchers will be available at only RM588 nett per table of six and RM798 nett per table of ten in November 2015, and RM688 net per table of six and RM898 nett per table of ten in December 2015, compared to the original pricing of RM1118 net per table. The vouchers can be bought now and used from 1 Jan until 29 Feb 2016.
The first dish is the Golden Sea Whelk “Yee Sang” which is very different and refreshing from normal Yee Sang I had tasted, using the meat of Whelk which is like Snail meat.
It’s an important CNY culture to have this dish and using the chopsticks to mix it up together tossing it high as we can while shouting well wishes for the year. We get to do it before CNY so it was really different. The different condiments when mixed well together makes the dish sour and sweet and crunchy all at the same time.
Next we had the Double Boiled Chicken Soup with Dried Scallop and Mushroom.
This soup was very refreshing and tasty and good for the body, warming it up nicely and I believe it is filled with nutrients too. Every bowl was served with a scallop inside.
The third dish on the menu was the Roasted Crispy Chicken Infused with Five Spices and Garlic. The skin of the chicken was made super crispy while the meat was juicy and tender. I loved it a lot.
It is also a large dish that can be shared with up to 11 people on the table. The five spices infused deep into the meat of the chicken making it a delight to savour.
Chinese meals cannot go without the fish, and here we have the Steamed River High Fin Patin Fish with Ginger and Chilli Sauce.
The fish was fresh and the sauces used was very flavourful. I always loved fish especially the Patin for the tender meat and sweet taste.
No 5 on the list was the Pan-Fried Tiger Prawns With Special Honey Marmite Sauce. The prawns fried this was very sweet to the taste.
The serving for this was large as well, I’m sure all prawn lovers would be delighted at this dish.
We should also eat some vegetables, so we had the Braised Stuffed Beancurd Roll and Black Mushroom with Seasonal Vegetable. This was a pretty standard Chinese dinner dish but I really love the mushrooms which was soft and fresh. Every part of the vegetable can be eaten too.
Somehow, we always end our Chinese meal with a large pot of rice, to ensure that all guests are well filled up. This was the Claypot Rice with Diced Chicken and Yam. I love the mix of yam in fried rice always.
Check out the generous portions of onions to give some fragrance to the rice too.
We ended the meal with some sweet warm desserts, this being the Sweetened Kiwi with Sago, served warm.
Lastly, we had some Deep Fried Chinese New Year Dumpling. This was nice, sweet and crispy.
It was some kind of Yam mixture inside.
This meal cost RM1188 net for 10 persons, so book now from only RM588 as stated above.
There is another set meal in conjunction with the traditional reunion dinner available on 7 and 8 February 2016, which is the eve and first day of CNY. This special set will be available at RM2080 nett per table of tan compared to the original pricing of RM3088 per table. This set will include a complimentary RM100 voucher for user at your next visit, free flow Chrysanthemum tea, and side of tidbits and special gifts.
