Day 7: 7 Day Diet

I was really excited as this was the last day!! Hurray!

Fruits, vegetables and juices. Consume an assortment of fruits, vegetables and vegetable juices. Half a cup of brown rice is optional – but not recommended.

I missed my fruits so much after a day without it, that I woke up so early just to cut myself a breakfast pack filled to the brim with an assortment of fruits: prunes, apricots (dried), strawberries, bananas, apple and orange, and some papayas.

I packed this to go as we were having breakfast out, yes we are ‘kaki jalan’ we go out every weekend. Today, we brought the kids to the playground in Mines. We stopped by a cafe for breakfast and I was planning to eat this while the rest have their noodles. Alas this was not to be as my dear boy made a lot of fuss that we ended up having to carry him up and down. In the end, I devoured the fruits in the car on the way to the mall. It was nearly noon time. 🙁 Good thing was the fruits filled me so much, I couldn’t finish it at all.

After a fun filled day at the playground, we searched for lunch again. We went to Sakae Sushi, and while I would normally eat a full set meal with rice, today I opt for the Salad. It did however, contained 3 pieces of raw salmon, jelly fish and small tiny fried fish. That’s the cheat!

For dinner, I had another bowl of salad and stir-fried some vegetables, namely, carrots, green pepper, onions, shiitake mushrooms, and a tomato. I used the vege as a side dish for the hubs and kids, as I cooked spaghetti for them. Oh I did steal a bit of cod fish from the dish I prepared for them.

That’s it, end of the diet.

How did I feel? Great. I still only lost 3kg and that’s only the weight I gained during Chinese New Year, not even the baby weight. Yikes. I should do this diet again a month from now. What was great about it is I have a new perspective of food. I used to think I needed to eat a certain amount of meat, vege, rice etc to be satisfied. After eating not that much during this one week, I still felt satisfied. I now know how to replace certain bad foods with better food. I will never order a full value meal set again when I eat out, it is just too much. I never knew a salad without meat can be my main dish but now I realised it can. I also loved that I ate more fruits during the 7 days than I usually would in a year! Yea I really don’t shop much for fruits before this. Most of all, I realised how unhealthily I had been eating even though I always pride myself for being a health freak. So there you go, the 7 day diet is not a myth and is not just for physical improvement but also for a change of mindsets.
