I had always loved Dr. Seuss story books and have started reading them with Josiah from a young age. So I’m really excited when I now get to review the ebooks, the iPad interactive apps. It certainly add a new dimension tp just reading the books like that.
I love the Green Eggs and Ham story for being a little bit ridiculous and really funny. Sam is this really persistent fellow who runs after his friend, named Sam’s friend in this story and kept asking his friend to eat some Green Eggs and Ham. Do people actually eat those? The way he goes after his friend is super creative, he even goes on a tree and in the car chasing to offer this very special dish. Sam’s friend on the other hand is opposite of Sam, he is grumpy and finds Sam super irritating, which is why he kept running away. Reading the book is fun enough, but being an interactive ebook doubles the fun, as Josiah can click on any part of the page, on the words or on the picture and the narrator will read out what was clicked. I don’t think there is a similar ebook like this on the appstore that is of such good quality. The narrator’s reading and voice is exactly like how it is on the Cat in the Hat series cartoons.
By the way, this app is version and is an updated version of an initially released one, and if you’re wondering what are the HUGE UPDATEs, here they are:
HUGE UPDATE
New Features Include: – Record your own voice – Share voice tracks – Page selector – New options – New hints – Retina main menu – And more!
Now recording is a nifty feature and really useful for kids who only want to hear their own parents reading. It’s also fun if Josiah can read well enough and I can let him record his own voice.
Plus, after recording I can actually email it out to my other ios devices and download it from there so I don’t have to do double recording. I’ve got a lot more apps from Oceanhouse Media to review so watch out for it. In the meantime, give this app a try. There is also a lite version for you to try it out before buying!
