Mines Shopping mall baby room

Last Saturday was a holiday, and we didn’t know where to go jalan. Nowadays we can only go to malls that have baby rooms. So, suddenly John said go to Mines, since they have an Anakku baby room. Well, it’s been ages so why not.

Wow, I was surprised, Mines is really nice now. Got lots of fantastic eateries, no more those rara boutiques, there are actually some good ones, like Kitchen (don’t know why such name), Niichi, hugest FOS and reject shop I’ve seen, even Switch was there, and the IT floor was BIG, etc etc. The pirated game shops are still around. Plus John was really happy coz there happened to be a BMX Skateboard competition going on, obviously after read that great review on top selling electric skateboards.

Then it was time for nursing, so I made my way to the baby room. On first look, I thought it was cool. There were 3 diaper change stations. But there were some bags on it.

I looked around but there was no one around. Then they even have 3 cots for sleepy babies. I wonder who want to sleep there.

Unfortunately there is no toilet, so not potty training here. There is only a bathroom, for washing whatever things.

Then there is one very sad small nursing room with a school looking bench.

I used this room, but I struggled with pushing the stroller into it. The wheels were stuck here and there. And it was really hot in there. The whole room was more like a toilet. The room would have been nice if there was some serious maintenance. Obviously, the people in Mines do not think highly of babies, the next generation.

What I was really dissatisfied was, they were using the room as changing room for the promoters. While I was there, some guys dressed in costumes walked in, they were smelly and dirty, and they were changing there, leaving their bags and shoes and smelly stuffs on the cot and diaper change area. Hhmph. Not very nice. As a result of that, the whole place smelt of terrible stench. Some mothers that came in to change their babies’ diapers were also complaining about the smell. Plus, nursing mothers like me need some privacy ok. Suddenly got guys walk in not very pleasant experience, even if I was in the small room.

  1. actually its not only the mall but everything MINES is under maintained. i think its the cina mentality, look nice on the outside is enough.
We were at a wedding last Saturday at Mines Beach Resort, and my oh my, it was not a very pleasant experience, things were old looking, falling apart, moldy…yucks!

  2. the part abt going to malls after having babies are absolutely true! especially when you are in malaysia; i cant imagine taking arielle out for walks. she’ll either be covered with soot, or return home totally baked. fortunately here the government very pro children, so you have parks everywhere with playgrounds for kids. Plus the weather here is really suitable for jalan-jalan outside.
