Preloved things from Japan? I’ve always heard how well the Japanese care for their things, from their clothes, toys, books, to just about anything they own. They just have the highest respect for whatever they buy and use and they don’t use it for a really long time as they need to make space for new things. Space is kind of a luxury for the Japanese. That’s why Jalan Jalan Japan is opening in Malaysia! Jalan Jalan Japan is a local version of Book Off Japan that started in the 90s to buy back preloved goods from the Japanese and resell it again.
The store spans two storeys and it just huge. I think it will take 2 hours to really walk the whole place. Whatever you can think of will be found here. I initially thought they will only have clothes and toys but seriously I was shocked when I went in. So excited that I didn’t want to leave. Now, let’s start exploring the shop!
I was surprised they have lots and lots of musical instruments. Guitars, ukuleles are the main thing, and they actually looked like new. Do you think maybe your favourite JPOP star played one of these before? You just never know.
They even have traditional instruments like these.
Violins anyone? I bought a preloved violin for Josiah and it was pricier than these very new looking ones.
I got stuck and glued to the bags area for some time. I even spotted a luggage at RM5. There were various brands and many branded bags such as Gucci, Gap, and more. I personally bought four bags in this area!
First is this RM10 Gap Denim sling bag that looked totally new. I believe the previous owner hardly ever used this bag before selling it.
This is another mini sling bag that I fell in love with, after all it is only RM10. I don’t know what is the brand though, it is in Japanese. The quality is so good though, and just nice for me to go out shopping.
Then I bought this tip top condition bag pack and later found out it is from SUDAHANP, a lifestyle brand from Korea that makes amazing bags. Seriously, I used it yesterday while going about the city and it was able to carry so many things without feeling too heavy on my shoulders. All for only RM20.
I was so excited to see the Randoseru ランドセル being sold here! I had been eyeing them for a long time but they cost a bomb like over RM1000. Well, guess what, this really new looking one is only RM20. I could not believe it!
I spotted these super cute boots that I always see in animes. Kids would walk about in these and splash on the puddles. I need to get these for the boys!
Camping gears cost a bomb but not in Jalan Jalan Japan. They are so cheap you would want to just camp in your backyard everyday.
Do Japanese play a lot of golf? As there are lots and lots of golf equipments in all kinds of colour and sizes available here.
All kinds of sports racquets are available too. I really want to start learning tennis or something.
I must admit, when I came to the shoes section, my first thought was, who would want to wear someone’s used shoes. It was not until I spotted some really cheap and really new shoes. I think the ones I bought were actually new but maybe kept in storage without ever being worn.
I found these, Pedala by Asics and can you believe these sell in Japan for over RM700? I bought it at Jalan Jalan Japan for RM10! I couldn’t believe it. It is super super comfortable.
Then I bought these sandals also from Asics called Texcy. At first, I thought it looks uncomfortable but I tried it as it was new, and I was so surprised at how comfy they are. I can only wear sneakers usually so this is a good option. Why are there no such cheap comfy shoes in Malaysia?
Toys, rows and rows of Japanese toys flood the store. From Power Rangers to soft toys Disneyland, Gundam and anime characters, just about every type of toy can be found here.
Fisher Price toys are all in Japanese, so if you want your kids to grow up learning some Japanese, then this is a great place to get them toys.
Ladies would go crazy at the rows and rows of clothes. They are all categorised properly and there are a lot of winter jackets too. That’s something we do not want to splurge on if we will only use it once a blue moon when travelling. Jackets go as low as RM10, RM20. You will need to check through properly before bringing back and they have many changing rooms for trying. If hygiene is your concern, I was told that they clean everything when it reaches Port Klang until it has no stain and no odor and they even sort and mend the missing buttons etc.
How nice if this place existed when the kids were babies. I didn’t have to spend all my money buying quality strollers and carseats, baby chairs and more are available here.
