Samsung launched their flagship series S23 phones just over a month ago, and I had the privilege to take the S23+ for a spin for a month. The Samsung Galaxy S23+ has already managed to capture the attention of smartphone enthusiasts worldwide, including me, with the array of new colors.
Design and Display
It now comes in Lavender, Cream, Phantom Black and Green, with 2 online exclusive colours, Lime and Graphite. Which is your fav?
Samsung has always been a leader in the smartphone market and the Samsung Galaxy S23+ is no exception. It is one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of the year and for good reason. With a sleek design and impressive features, this phone is sure to impress. I remember buying my first Samsung Galaxy S22+ last year and since then I just became Samsung’s fan in all electronics. After switching to Android, I did not managed to stick to one manufacturer until now.
One of the first things I notice about the Samsung Galaxy S23+ is its beautiful, sleek design. The size is actually the same as the S22+ and has a slim profile, making it easy to hold and use with one hand. The phone features a large, edge-to-edge 6.9-inch Super AMOLED display that offers a resolution of 1440×3200 pixels. The display is bright, vivid, and offers excellent viewing angles, making it perfect for streaming movies, playing games, or browsing the web. I was able to watch my Kdramas on the S22+ very comfortably without having to squint.
The back of the phone has a unique, textured finish that not only adds to the phone’s aesthetics but also provides a great grip. I like the texture that is not shiny, fingerprints don’t stick that easily. I actually used the phone for a month without any case and find it comfy and not slippery at all.
Performance and Features
In terms of performance, the Samsung Galaxy S23+ is a powerhouse with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 processor. It also comes with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage, which is more than enough for even the most demanding users. The Galaxy S23+ comes with a host of features, including IP68 dust, and water resistance, making it more durable and reliable than other smartphones. Additionally, it has a massive 6000mAh battery that supports fast charging, so I never have to worry about running out of battery during the day. Since the S22+, I had already been used to the super fast charging feature, I think I am spoiled and can’t go backwards anymore. The adapter is not provided though, just get an original one from Samsung online website. In terms of speed, I can definitely feel the S23+ doing everything faster than my S22+, from opening the camera, snapping, to loading websites and more.
Camera
The camera quality is the most important feature for me in a phone. The Samsung Galaxy S23+ comes with a triple-camera setup that includes a 108MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens on top, a 50MP wide-angle lens in the middle, and a 10MP, 3x Optical Zoom telephoto lens at the bottom with digital zoom up to 30x.
In the front is a 12MP selfie camera, which takes really clear selfies, so clear that I need to edit off the pores on my skin with a beauty app, or I can also use the in built camera face detection smooth feature! As the same as S22+ the selfie camera taken in portrait mode gives a few special effects such as blurred background, studio mode where the face looks brighter or as above, I used a colour point feature to make the background black and white so the person can stand out.
Foodies will love the camera as all my food shots turn out exceptional, bright in the right places, blur at the edge, I think it just made the food look more delicious than ever. Above pics were taken without any additional lighting or additional editing ya.
The camera setup is one of the best in the market and delivers exceptional images and videos, even in low-light conditions. Samsung is known for night photography aptly named Nightography. I never have to worry about blurry night shots or faces that can’t be seen as it will somehow adjust and brighten the photo perfectly. Gone are the days we need to use flash light feature just to see the scene at night.
Another great feature of the Samsung Galaxy S23+ is its in-display fingerprint sensor as with the S22+. This is a convenient and secure way to unlock your phone. The phone also has 5G connectivity, which means that you can enjoy fast and reliable internet speeds wherever you go. Additionally, the phone comes with a number of other features like NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS that make it a great choice for anyone looking for a new phone.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S23+ is an excellent smartphone that is sure to impress. With its sleek design, powerful performance, and advanced camera features, it’s definitely worth considering if you’re in the market for a new phone. For those like me with the S22+, I would wait another year for an upgrade, yes that is how good the Galaxy series are, even after one year my phone is still great. That said, the S23+ phone has a lot to offer, and it’s clear that Samsung has put a lot of thought and effort into designing and developing this device. It’s hard to find any drawbacks to this phone, making it a top contender in the smartphone market.
However, there is one phone better than it, that is the S23 Ultra! Wait for the next post for review as I am currently using it and loving it!
