10 years late

I’m exactly 10 years late to be sitting for my driving law test…which is this coming Saturday. 😛 Last week was the KPP which stands for Kurikulum Pendidikan Pemandu. Contrary to popular beliefs, I found the 5 hour class pretty interesting. Maybe not if I was 17. I got the contact of this really nice instructor from the youth in church…he was really friendly and I’m pretty sure, will take the nerves off me before I start the lessons.

Anyways,  back to the seminar, it was somewhere far off in Bangi. I thought the place had beautiful sceneries. There were over 40 people in the class, some even having driving experience already. Some drama broke out in the class half an hour through it. Apparently some young chap was falling asleep at the back of the class, and the trainer was feeling ticked off. He shot some questions to the back row, and not surprisingly, none of the boys knew how to answer the fairly simple questions. The chap I guess was showing some I-couldn’t-care-less attitude as the trainer pressed on asking, and he simply ignored and kept quiet.

Fire was forming in the eyes of the trainer as he disappeared into the office, coming back seconds later with a piece of paper. He motioned for the boy to come forward, and told him to write his name on the paper. Begrudgingly the boy trotted forward, with a long face and after scribbling something onto the paper, trotted back to his seat. The trainer continued to pour out his heart how disrespected he felt, how people like this shouldn’t be a driver etc…I can’t remember it all. He took a glance at the paper and realised the boy didn’t really write his name clearly, called the boy back a second time and made him write again. There was much tension in the air…I was wondering whether punches will be thrown around at that moment. The trainer went on to threaten the boy that he won’t get his certificate for that day becoz of his bad attitude. I guess the chap was feeling a little remorse but did nothing about it.

Then we had a break, and after coming back, the trainer seemed to have a change of heart, and apologised profusely to the class and to the boy in question. He must have been sounded I guess, but the higher authorities. In the midst of the class, the head of department came in and sold some multimedia-based CD with 500 questions. He was charging a pretty exhorbitant RM10 per CD, and telling some stories of how a cleaning lady who failed the test passed after using the CD. Many people bought the story and parted with their RM10 for it. What a great money making scheme. As for me, I totally believed that using Multimedia or interactivity with the PC program can help learning, but I wouldn’t part with the only RM10 I had in my wallet at that time for something that I could learn with the free book. Hhm…oh well. Really hope I can get a good result this weekend! My instructor promised lunch at McD if any one of us score perfect 50. 🙂
