Kek Lapis Sarawak or Sarawak Layered Cake is a very, very special delicacy in Sarawak, served especially during festivities like Gawai, Raya, Chinese New Year etc. It’s actually a very hard to make cake, as you have to bake it layer by layer, and it’s very colourful. However, supposedly the colours are safe to consume. Kek Lapis Sarawak actually originated from Indonesia, so if you go to Indonesia, you’ll find it there too. This is one of the best Chee Cheong Fun stall in Kajang market area, mostly I have this for breakfasts. Recently, my sister and bro in law came and John brought them there, and they totally love it. I was at a blur what to buy for my confinement nanny to cook. Thank God I can ask my confinement centre, and this is what Alice faxed to me. Being non Chinese speaking, it is quite hard to ask people what to buy and then go to the chinese herb store to buy them, as I won’t know whether what the chinese physician recommend would be the things the confinement nanny want. Parcel from Kuching
This year is the very first year of my entire long life that I am not spending Chinese New Year back in Kuching, my beloved hometown, with my beloved family, complete with home made cookies, goodies, mom’s cooking, open house and all that. Well, thanks to courier services, my dear mom decided to send some of her goodies over and I just received them today. It was very exciting to be receiving a big parcel like that.
