Today is the 2nd day of the the inaugural Techbiz launced at Malaysia IT Fair (MITF) 2015 that will be running from 28-31 August 2015. I was invited by Unified Distribution Technology SDN BHD (UDT) the organizer of MITF to witness the officiating ceremony by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Jailani Bin Johari, The Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia.

People came to MITF from all over as we saw huge lines because there were actually great deals like RM99 for 1TB HDD (limited to 10 a day) or RM199 for 1.5TB HDD (30 a day) plus thumbdrives for only RM1 8gb (limited to 1 per person 12 years old and above). So many happy hour or early bird deals with people gathering at the gate as early as 7am. Finally the doors opened at 11am with, and being the launching day, the VIPS were all lined up for the ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by an upbeat opening ceremony dance before the public could throng the place to shop for great deals.

We gathered at the stage area for the Grand Launch of Kaspersky Internet Security 2016. Watch the video for the launch gimmick and the dance performed to showcase the importance of protecting our Internet from hackers, attacks, virus and so on.

Ms June Lee 李淑妮 General Manager of Malaysia IT Fair. gave her welcoming speech to the VIPs and Media.

Ms June introduced TechBiz@Malaysia IT Fair with the objective to bring all the new technologies and solutions into one place for visitors from all over such as the government ministries, public listed companies, MNCs and local enterprises, corporate and SMEs to be able to gather and discover, learn and evaluate together all under one roof. This was the very first time that an IT Fair provides space for exhibition together with seminars for the business platforms in Malaysia. Ms June explained that it was rare occurrence for an event to cater to Business-to-business (B2B) as well as Business-to-consumer (B2C) all in one place which was what made Techbiz@Malaysia IT Fair a significant event to both visitors and IT Business solutions providers.

Considering our lowest RM rate ever, we might need to buy certain necessities like Antivirus but they are too expensive elsewhere. This is the best time to take advantage of the many deals and promotions offered at the MITF to save us some money. One of the great deals available that she mentioned is Kaspersky Internet Security priced at RM179 for 2 boxes of 3-users 1-year licenses, making it only RM29.80 per user.

Mr Jimmy Fong 方奕文, Channel Sales Director, Kaspersky Lab SEA gave his welcoming speech following Ms June.

Mr Jimmy talked about how we are too reliant on technology nowadays, and sometimes we don’t even remember our important information like passwords, pin numbers etc so we keep it in our phones and computers. This is really exposing us to cybercrimes that can steal our information easily – users should be well aware about things like the simulated phishing test nowadays. That is why KIS 2016 was developed specifically to protect users’ privacy, data, identity, money and even our device itself, on whatever platforms be it Windows, OSX or Android. This is really cool news for me as cyberattacks are getting worse by the year. You would have heard of news of hacks here and there, and recently I had faced a trojan that is so powerful that it wipes up my thumbdrive of all the data once infected.

Mr Jimmy Low 刘卓岩, Pre-Sales Manager, Kaspersky Lab SEA gave a product presentation about Kaspersky.

Amongst its many features, KIS 2016 allows Private Browsing, whereby social sites and agencies won’t be able to steal your browser activities, locations and search history and resell them to send targetted ads to you. This feature is able to remove those data via a plugin. I also abhor those additional extensions that install itself in our computers and affect the whole system sometimes really slowing it down. KIS 2016 features Change Control that detects any process that tries to change something in the system and reports it to the user. I’m definitely going to update all my office Antivirus to the latest KIS 2016 as it is important to keep up to date with the latest software to ensure the latest protection. Have you heard of hackers spying on your through your PC Webcam? Well, that will happen no more with Webcam Protection that prevents interception of images from the webcam and will notify you when someone illegitimate tries to access it.

We stopped at MAMPU where Dato’ checked out the system. Do visit MAMPU’s booth which is near the entrance. MAMPU has decided to use Techbiz as their platform to educate and share the many great developments they have created for the Malaysia government and business communities and general public. Grab a shopping bag here to store all your shopping things.
