Kolomee on Facebook

I think it was a couple of weeks ago when John became a member of the Facebook group, Sarawak Kolomee Appreciation Society...I couldn’t believe it, an appreciation society for a food dish? Well, in the hearts of Sarawakians, Kolomee does kind of reign amongst all noodles..all food in this matter. After nearly ten years away from home sweet home, finally, with the help of Facebook, we found West Malaysia’s most authentic Kolomee stall, and it’s not too far. Accessible by car, 40 minutes drive from Kajang.

Immediately, as we found out the place in Puchong at Bintang Foodcourt, plans were made to make a trip there. That Saturday, we have Morning watch in church, so we woke up as early as 5.30am with Kolomee as the final goal.

Dragging a West Malaysian friend, William along, we found our way without GPS to the aforementioned destination. Surprisingly, the Kolomee is not so expensive, unlike ones found in Singapore.

We went in such haste, that I even forgot to bring along my camera. Thus, these pics are rather blurry, being taken from a camera phone.

But surely, it did not dampen the taste of the very authentic kolomee. Only downside was, why is it served on plates not bowls? Back in Kuching, Kolomee must be served in bowls, even better, those with the hand painted chicken porcelain bowls!

Down it with a glass of Teh C Peng, PERFECTO! Anyways, the Kolomee in this stall is near perfect, nothing like this can be found anywhere else in West Malaysia! Well, I hope there are others though. We ate and ta pau (pack) like there’s no tomorrow.
