Have you ever thought of getting really old one fine day, and wondering who’s going to take care of you? Are you going to end up in nursing homes where your kids will chuck you there? This has probably crossed my mind a few times, but I’d rather just leave it to the Lord. However, ultimately, I hope I will age gracefully, I won’t have all the sicknesses, and I can totally take care of myself even at an old age. Is that just fantasizing? No, I think ultimately, once I’ve done the work I am here to do, it’s better that I get to leave the world at a relatively younger age…
What it is, none of this is in my hands. So I guess it’s normal for people to think and wonder about what happens when we do get old, sometimes for those with older parents, they also wonder how to provide the best care for their aged parents. I think it’s also quite taboo to talk about it with our parents about it…most children will assume that their parents won’t want to go to a home…but leaving them at home while you go out and work, is not exactly responsible and giving them the rights to the best kind of care. Which is why reading up is important, and I’m glad for Bettercaring.com to write about these issues, complete with a discussion board where people can come and share their experiences. This site provides answers to those living in England, Scotland and Wales about homes and also how to have these care services within their own home. Maybe we can’t get that here, but we can certainly just read up for better knowledge in this subject.
