Churchgoers rock with Guy Sebastian
Churchgoers rock with Guy SebastianPETALING JAYA: He had won the hearts of the Australians to become their first Idol.
Klang-born Guy Sebastian yesterday showed his endearing qualities to Malaysians when he performed on the stage of the Glad Tidings church in Section 13 here.
He had the 3,700-strong crowd waving their hands and tapping their feet as he “rocked†the stage alongside band members from the Australian Paradise Community Church.
They were in Malaysia for a series of workshops and two free concerts at the Full Gospel Assembly in Jalan Kuchai Lama and Glad Tidings.
Also present was Guy’s brother, Ollie Sebastian, who had penned the lyrics for five of the 12 songs in the Paradise Live: Adore album that they were promoting during the one-hour concert.
When I read this, I found it funny. The writer must have been trying hard to write about the concert and at the same time, trying to make it as, erm, not churchy as possible? I don’t know how to say it. But if you read that and thought that it was like any other rock concert, where the star of the day was Guy Sebastian and the crowd was waving to him and tapping their feet coz of Guy Sebastian…well you’re wrong. It was nothing like that! Well, I guess many went there because of him, but the whole concert was about nobody but Jesus. People were in fact lifting their hands to worship and praise their God, Jesus, and jumping in rejoicing.
I wish the writer had given a better picture of the whole concert, but then again, it’s hard to describe. I went to the workshops held in Glad Tidings as well. We had workshops on Song writing, Worship leading, Leadership, Music Directing, Dance, Vocals, and Band. It was really insightful to learn from the very experienced musicians from Paradise Church. I went for Music Directing run by Ps Paul Zaia, he’s the music director of the team and writes much of the songs as well. Really a great man of God, and though the workshop was really short and rushed, I did learn quite some things from him. His passion for God, for his church, for music, it was just infectious!
Then I went for song writing run by Guy. We just learned some dynamics and fundamentals on song writing not the theoritcal stuff. But it was good, Guy being really humble and showing us some stuff he wrote. It was, I guess, pretty inspiring. Here’s a guy, so determined in the call of God, serving the Almighty with all he has, giving back his talents, here he’s got the world at his feet, yet he bows to none other than the Almighty God, truly inspiring.
Anyways, I give thanks to God for that church, for the songs that touches our hearts. Watch out for this.

I was browsing and looking for some lyrics and here I am, just entered this page. Yeah..indeed Christian Worship has becoming so much COMMERCIAL now.. i wonder how Jesus feel. Afterall He is the Creator of everything. Why are ppl drawn to man or fleshly excitement rather than God alone? God and God alone shall deserve all the glory… wake up all Christian. Time is running up. Wake up and do something that is worth living for – eternal values…
