The Whole lotta trouble to get you

Africa is known as the breeding ground for internet con artists, with many of us having received scam mails from there, usually regarding someone’s death and a huge amount of money they want to transfer to you. In Chinese terms, where got such big frogs jumping around the street. Meaning, money is never going to fall onto your lap from the sky. This is not to say that other countries don’t do that as well.

I had gotten such scam mails all the time, and never bothered reading them. Today, I received a scam mail from a woman claiming to be the wife of an Arch Deacon, who passed away and wanted to give my church her 3.5 million to be used for God’s work. I’m like, man, these people are just going overboard trying to convince people. Looks like they are now targetting vulnerable church staffs looking for funds to cover church expense. This woman quoted many scriptures and the whole very long email seemed written with much thought It could have passed for a mail from any church member, with prayer requests etc. Apparently she too is dying of some stroke and cancerous illness, and need to transfer the money to me instead of to her ungodly relatives, so the money won’t fall into wrong hands. I’m just wondering how many people fall for these scams.

Anyway, I then happened along a site which made the communications with these scam artists into a drama. Check it out here.
This one is actually the same person who emailed me today, also about her dead husband but with a different agenda and different business. How stupid they are to always use the same name, I wonder.

Anyways, in the email, the ‘woman’ wrote something really funny.

Due to present condition of my health, I was warned by my doctor to avoid receiving or making any call.

What kind of excuse is that? Does the phone contain radioactive rays that could harm her ears, as compared to being able to sit in front of the PC and type long long emails, with the PC monitor probably emitting more UVB/UVA rays.

  1. This reminded me of the whole bunch of crappy mails I got from Africa trying to buy my handphone that I posted online on Ebay. I wonder why is all this con activities centred there. I think by now nearly everyone would have known of that, maybe they should reconsider restructuring their con mails to get more effect.
