Third Day in Battambang

The third day in Battambang was basically the start of our teaching ministry. It was quite daunting at first as there were about 3 consecutive 1 hour classes each day for each pair of teachers, with other classes for Bible studies and classes for Monks. Due to it being just after the Khmer New year, many of the students were not around, but still the classes went on. We decided to combine the different level classes into one for the first class. In the first class, me, Rex, Ade and KC taught together. We had songs, games and the gospel using the color hearts. The students were probably curious what we were trying to teach. We ended without having any altar call.

However, in my second class, Nicky decided to join me and Rex as we took the Level 3 class. I suggested we have an altar call after that, but Nic thought I was joking. I seriously thought it was neccessary after sharing the gospel, else there was no point. So, being the first class we had to run, we were pretty disorganised at first. Thank God Nic was around to fill in the times I didn’t know what to do. Finally, I decided to get Rex to testify about how he learned English, and followed by the bridge illustration. It turned out his testimony was pretty powerful, and by the time we had altar call, 7 people put up their hand to receive Jesus. It was amazing, like s breakthrough. Nic led them in the sinners’ prayer and the students truly looked happy.

We were so excited we told the rest of the teachers about this, and they decided to use the same approach for the days to come. It was amazing as for the next 3 days, more than 60 students gave their decisions to accept Jesus. These people were just so hungry for God and needing His touch in their lives. Praise God for his grace and mercy!
