It had been a fantastic nite! I just came back from practising with the band in church, ya and it’s so late now. This is the first time that I get to play with the youth, and my, was it great fun. I must say, initially I was very skeptical of the youth, not so much on their skills but more on the spiritual aspect. You see, I play the keyboard in the main church, and there, everything is about mild mannered, due to the conservativeness of our members. Sometimes I wonder if it’s really our members or just our assumptions, but I had comments from people that said we are young but acted old. Anyways, in the main service, our music band is made up of all ages, from early 20s to 50s. We do tend to not move forward with new songs as much as the youths do.
Back to the youths, we’ve got some great talents in there. Some really pro players with their guitars and drums, but they don’t have a keyboardist. Therefore, I was asked to play for them for this Fellowship of the Rock Event we are having this Saturday. The organisers asked what’s the name of our band, oops, guess we’ll just call ourselves the KAOG band. Anyways, the first time we practiced, it was all pretty dry. Somehow something was lacking. I guess I being skeptical could be the cause of it. We just couldn’t bring heaven down with worship, everything was technical and everyone seemed to outplay each other….However tonite it all changed. We got together again, and practiced thru the songs chosen, then the organiser, Christie, said it wasn’t enough impact. He wanted more out of us…so the leader had to think up something, a new song maybe…
So in the end we threw in a couple of fast paced new songs, we really got into the song and into worship with the songs…I had no score with me, and I don’t remember chords, But somehow I played without a hitch…it was like the Holy Spirit was moving me to play the right notes! Man, we rawked tonite! Christie went ballistic, he thinks we are GREAT! IT wasn’t about the songs, it was all about God. When we put all our focus on God, things changed.
IT will be a busy busy weekend. Tomorrow nite I have to be at the practice and sound check for the One SPirit BAnd, Jesus Generation, Jerry Felix and Jordan Rivers. I can’t wait for Saturday, for the teaching and the concert. It just feels exciting! I can’t wait the see the multitudes that will come back to the Kingdom through this event. Pray that all goes well!
