The White Lodge Langkawi

Last month, we flew to Langkawi as a family for John’s company trip. Due to the whole company taking a midnight bus to Langkawi (++10 hours!) we decided to forgo that and took a MAS Get a Deal flight straight into the island instead. So, having reached there one day earlier, I decided to book ourselves a cheap motel and stay for a night. After much deliberation, I booked The White Lodge.

It is located in a very touristy Pantai Cenang area, a 5 min walk from the beach and there were many eateries across the road. However, the White Lodge is not situated on the road itself, like AB Motel, it is actually more secluded through a small path that only cars and not buses and go through. I also love the architecture and the smallness of the place….

We booked the family room for RM88 a night, with a Double bed, and an extra mattress for RM25. However, the mattress is so thin and has no covers, just a thin mattress on the floor!

The room is small, nice and cosy, with a TV we never used. It is airconditioned and also has a fan. We ended up just using the fan at night, afraid that it will be too cold for Josiah.

At the corner, is a cupboard to keep our stuffs and clothes. There were also coffee making facilities, which in simple English, a pot and a couple of cups, and some coffee 3in1. There’s also a small fridge.

The bathroom is minimal with a hot water shower, basin and toilet bowl.

There were even flowers inside the toilet bowl? Now why?

Personal thoughts. I like the place for its quietness, it’s away from the hustle and bustle of the roadside Jalan Pantai Cenang. It’s really near to the Underwater World, just opposite. It’s really near to the beach. There are lots of seafood restaurants just outside. We needed our own Mosquitoe repellent, I think this place sure have lots of insects and mozzies. The walls are really thin, I can hear echos of what’s happening in the bathroom! Even down to the trickle of water from the tap. This does not happen in regular 3 star hotels, somehow they did the walls right. In the mornings, it’s crazy hard to get breakfast in this area. We did manage to eat in an Irish pub and exorbitantly for some omelet, but it’s quite near to the town area, like 40 minutes RM40 away. This is a good place if you’re coming to Langkawi just to hang out on the beach.
