Snatch Thieves

The Star today featured a testimony of one Snatch Theft victim. This brave lady was paralysed after taking a bad fall upon being snatched of her belongings by some useless fellas some 7 years back. Despite not getting her mobility back, she has since forgiven the culprit and moved on with her life. She is pictured here with a look of peace and satisfaction, even tho she couldn’t understand why her cat has rather longish features. Nevertheless, I would add that God had a plan for her, even though her life seemed to others destroyed, but her story and testimony carries hope to many who might face her situation.

This just reminds me of an experience I had. Personally, I had not been snatched before, but this does not deter the phobia I have developed after watching others fall victim to those monsters. Once, bout 4 years ago, my friend and I was just walking back to my sister’s apartment, in the middle of the night after supper, and my friend got snatched, by a little boy! We chased and ran like wild horses, but he disappeared in a flash. Well, apart from that, I hadn’t any other such calamities.

However, bout 2 years ago, I used to work in KL therefore had to take train rides everyday. I was pickpocketed twice while waiting for the train in that period of time. Lost many priceless stuff 🙁 Anyway, what I wanted to talk about was the careless attitudes of the Persons In Charge. I remember one time as we passengers were all waiting for the train to come, that one Train Security fella of some sort, started giving us all a lecture. He was babbling about how we ought to be careful with our bags and stuff, that should anything happen like snatch thefts or pick pocket cases, he will not be able to help us, coz it would be our own faults for being careless. I must admit that many people are careless with their belongings, but that is NOT an excuse for the Persons in Charge to avoid all responsibilities for such incidences happening in their premises. Just as carpark operators are responsible for thefts, rape etc in their car parks if they do not install the right security equipments, then so are train operators. They could at least install some CCTV that could watch the waiting area of the station and in particular the areas where passengers board the train, coz that’s where most thefts happened, when people are rushing and squeezing and unaware of hands digging into their bag packs and all. Why should the victims be responsible for all the things happening to them? When will the right officials step up and speak up and DO the neccesary?
