Last week, I had my 6th checkup at the gynae.
Here’s what baby should be looking like now. I don’t have the scan for my last check, but baby sure looked big and healthy.
At this last stages of my 2nd trimester, I’m already going out to stock up on baby stuffs before I get too heavy to walk around in our huge malls. So far, stuffs I already have that were blessed by people around me:
1) Baby cot with netting
2) Feeding bottles
3) Breast pump
4) Baby clothes and maternity clothes
5) Baby bath basin
6) Bouncinette
7) Baby basket carrier
8) Lots and lots of cloth diapers (lampin)
9) Hooded towels
10) Dimpled pillows and beddings
11) Pacifiers
And lots of other miscellaneous items, reading materials. Thank God for these little blessings that cover a lot of expenses already.
Things that I already shopped for.
1) Newborn disposable diapers 1 pack
2) Extra beddings for Cot
3) 2nd hand playpen and stroller
4) Newborn clothes x 3 with booties, socks, cap
5) Pillow and bolster
6) Extra bottle and teats
7) Cleaning brushes
8) Bibs and washclothes
9) Dresser with changing pad
10) Potty
11) Milk container
I might just have missed out some things, but there’s still many things to go…at the moment I’m check out AIO Cloth diapers or diaper covers…trying to think eco-friendly here.
Baby is also starting to kick a couple of days before my last checkup on Thursday, so far the kicking are not often and at random times. I guess baby is moving around like a gymnast at this age.
Baby got name di? The gynae is adamant that he’s a boy right?
anyway, Tesco diapers are cheap and good. We used it in Malaysia, and still using it when we’re here. It’s breathable and of good quality. Just make sure you dont get the tesco value ones…
and remember to keep the kitties away; their furs can cause asthma very, very easily!
we’re intending to use cloth diapers, and sigh..as i mentioned to many people so many times, there’s no proof cats cause asthma, but there’s scientific researches that showed exposure to cats in early years help babies develop immunisation against asthma….do your research..just google it. http://www.shadowcats.net/educate/cats_and_babies.pdf
ey, if you plan to use cloth diapers right, there are diaper pants for baby. that way baby won’t wet through the diapers and on the bed. it’s really useful; get a few.
yea, we use the tesco diapers, but only at home. when we go out or for nights, we use a different and better one.
wat about you momma? you’ll need a few things too. got them already?
Different websites and researches differ lo… anyway, it’s not the cats that will cause the asthma; the basic argument is that the fine fur that carries the allergen have very easy access to the nostrils, thus causing irritation firstly. When the furs travels to the lungs… that’s when asthma begins. I doubt if baby’s nose hair is well developed to arrest the fur.
Li-ann: I’m using normal lampin with liners, and covered with Diaper Covers which are waterproof, if soiled only the cloth diapers need to be washed often but not the diaper covers unless they are soiled too. These are normally pricey at RM65 above each, but I’ve found cheaper ones at http://lampinkain.blogspot.com
aylwin: Cat allergens may trigger a wheezing/asthmatic reaction in children/people who is allergic to it, but not to people that are not allergic to it. What you just said about allergen entering nostrils which babies can’t handle becoz they have no developed nose hair has no basis in any research at all….chronic asthma usually develops in adulthood, plus every case is dependent on many factors, 50% being genetic. Furthermore, the available evidence suggests that allergen avoidance does not significantly reduce the development of asthma. There’s no significant difference between the number of children that are not exposed to any allergen compared to those that are, that has asthma. Plus, cat allergens and all sorts of allergens, dust, smoke etc, are not just found in homes but everywhere, cafes, churches, cars, taxis, bus stands. Rest assured, of coz we won’t be letting our cat and baby play together, sleep together and hang out in the same area.
Baby nose hair – of course there’s no basis to it… just my feeling ma… it’ll be cute if someone can take a camera and shoot up the little holes… hahaha…
well, I’ve personally experienced asthma; my brothers. All three of them had asthma, with the 3rd one sufferring chronic asthma (needs to be hospitalized).
Point is to keep the environment clean for the little one who’s gonna arrive soon (can’t wait!) but that one’s a no-brainer la. Anyways, we’ve got something for your baby 🙂 hopefully can pass it to you when i go back to MLY for biz trip or something like that.
so cute lah the diaper pants!! and affordable!! update us more lah… we’re excited for you.
