THE MPO PRESENTS ‘MAGIC IN MUSIC’ AT DEWAN FILHARMONIK PETRONAS!
he Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) starts the new year with its Family Fun Day concerts on Saturday, 7 January 2017 at 3.00 pm and Sunday, 8 January 2017 at 2.30 pm at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), KLCC. Themed Magic in Music, the MPO will bring its audience on a magical journey via an exciting programme with themes of mystery, adventures and, of course, magic. The repertoire will include John Williams’ Hedwig’s Theme from the blockbuster movie ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ and excerpts from Mozart’s famous opera ‘The Magic Flute’. The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will charm audiences in its upcoming concerts at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP) under the leadership of Peruvian conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya, breathing fresh new interpretations on symphonic works on Friday, 14 October 2016 and Saturday, 15 October 2016 at 8.30 pm. A master of colour, who draws idiomatic interpretations from a wide range of repertoire in concerts around the globe, Harth-Bedoya has amassed considerable experience at the helm of orchestras such as the Chicago, Boston and Atlanta Symphonies, New York Philharmonic and The Philadelphia Orchestra. Join a fun-filled musical splendour when the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) presents Family Fun Day concerts on Saturday, 24 September 2016 at 3.00 pm and Sunday, 25 September 2016 at 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), KLCC. Themed Carnival of the Animals and to be led by Graham Ross, the concerts will witness animals spring majestically to life with music; from a mischievous magpie, a magical swan, a frenzied bumblebee to a graceful pooch. THE MPO COLLABORATES WITH CHOIR OF CLARE COLLEGE, CAMBRIDGE AT DEWAN FILHARMONIK PETRONAS
The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) is proud to announce its debut collaboration with the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge, in two showcases at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), Kuala Lumpur City Centre. The performances are scheduled on Saturday, 17 September 2016 at 8.30 p.m. and Sunday, 18 September 2016 at 3.00 p.m. All performances will be led by Graham Ross, the choir’s Music Director since 2010, and will witness the MPO and the ensemble perform some of the most exciting works such as Dukas’ Fanfare from ‘La Peri’, Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Tchaikovsky’s Overture 1812 and Faure’s Requiem, Op.48.
