THE MPO PRESENTS ‘RUSSIAN FAIRYTALES’ AT DEWAN FILHARMONIK PETRONAS!
The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will take you on a musical trip to Russia and present magical ‘fairytales’ in the form of classical gems on Saturday, 23 September 2017 at 8.30 pm and Sunday, 24 September 2017 at 3.00 pm at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), KLCC. The concerts will feature substantial excerpts from two full-length ballet scores, both by Russians and both are based on beloved universal fairytales about a handsome prince in search of a beautiful girl, whom, following many difficulties, he eventually finds and marries. The Listener was part of Family Fun Day programme at the Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP). I always try to bring the kids to enjoy and appreciate the orchestra whenever there is a great programme on. I was really glad to have gone to this one. I was thrilled to note the selection of the pieces for the day which featured some of my favourite composers. I noticed there were more adults than usual that came without children. I suspect it must have been the work of Harry Porter. CELEBRATE MALAYSIA DAY WITH THE SCREENING OF ‘OLABOLA’ WITH THE MPO AT DFP!
What is a more befitting way to celebrate Malaysia Day than with the screening of OlaBola with its score presented ‘live’ by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO)! The spectacular showcases are scheduled on Friday, 15 September 2017 and Saturday, 16 September 2017 at 8.30 pm at Dewan Fiharmonik PETRONAS (DFP). This will be the first time the MPO accompanies the screening of a local movie; prior to this, the MPO has presented the ‘live’ soundtrack for the screenings of Hollywood movies such as Psycho, Home Alone, Casablanca, and Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times and The Gold Rush. Breaking a Record in Aquaria KLCC
Malaysia celebrated 60 years of achievements and independence, and together with the Malaysian Book of Records, aquariaKLCC also celebrated an achievement of its own for Hari Merdeka! aquariaKLCC unveiled the Longest Jalur Gemilang in an Underwater Aquarium at a length of 60m to commemorate 60 years of Merdeka. This newest achievement will add on to our existing four Malaysian Book of Records achievements for 1st Live Underwater TV Broadcast with TV3 and 1st Live Underwater Radio Broadcast with FlyFM in 2006, 1st Underwater Board Meeting held in 2011, and Biggest Stingray in Captivity in 2014.
