What is time? According to Wikipedia, Time is a measure in which events can be ordered from the past through the present into the future. A Journey Through Time, which is a celebration of the precision of Time, will be back again for its 9th year running in the award winning Starhill Gallery in the centre of Kuala Lumpur. A Journey Through Time IX will be a highly anticipated myriad of curated experiences in watch, jewellery, fashion, cuisine and entertainment, for watch enthusiasts from all over the world; and it is worth to note down the dates Nov 20-27 when all these will be happening in Starhill Gallery, Malaysia’s ultimate destination for premium lifestyle, fashion, beauty, art and dining.
It doesn’t matter whether you are an experienced watch collector or a beginner looking to learn the trade, this event will be able to inspire and open your eyes with 125 international watch and jewellery brands to be previewed this year. This annual event is endorsed by Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism and Culture, and it has certainly grown bigger and better every year, this year having established itself firmly as the not to be missed to be seen event for the VIPS and prominent names in the industry of global timepieces and jewellery.
A timepiece completes fashion. It is therefore very apt to have iconic British fashion designer Julien Macdonald whose fashion showcase will feature pieces that will be exclusively created just for A Journey Through Time IX along other show-stopping pieces by the eminent designer. You might have watched this designer on popular reality show, British Next Top Model a few years ago when he was a judge. His amazing couture dresses thus far had been worn by celebrities like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Kylie Minogue just to name a few.
In the afternoons, various workshops will be held by experts in the field of luxury watches. Horologist Eric Ong and collector Dr Bernard Chong will be there to share their thoughts for beginners on how to start your Timepiece Journey to the pros and cons of the grey markets. There will even be talks on the the art of fine watchmaking for the affluent connoisseurs.

This year, A Journey Through Time will feature international watch brands such as Bedat & Co, Breguet, Cecil Purnell, Hermès, HYT, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Maîtres Du Temps, Moritz Grossmann, Mühle-Glashütte, Omega, Speake-Marin and Zeitwinkel. The ninth installation will see highlight pieces from Mühle-Glashütte starting from RM5,000 to show-stopping pieces from Gübelin worth up to RM6 million. Swiss ultra-luxury watch manufacturer, Patek Philippe will also be launching in Starhill Gallery in line with A Journey Through Time.

To heighten the experience, guests will also enjoy specially curated menus for A Journey Through Time by Feast Village’s new Executive Chef at Shook! – Chef Richard Sawyer. A veteran with 26 years of experience, Chef Richard has worked in two Michelin-star restaurants in London and his gastronomic delicacies will be made available at Feast Village from 20th to 27th November 2015.
While enjoying the feasts, you can expect show stopping gala performances on two nights and a Sunday Brunch up close and personal with Pop Idol Heart throb Gareth Gates.
Alessandro Safina who made soulful new pop opera music famous and Carly Paoli the Soprano will also make appearances throughout the journey and they will perform together at the grand conclusion with Starhill Gallery’s Watch of the Year Awards. Determined by an esteemed judging panel, nominated watchmakers will have a chance to be crowned the best of 2015 under seven categories.
YTL Hotels together with Starhill Gallery has put together a series of stay packages at its myriad of exclusive hotels.
