This is my first time flying all the way to Kuching Sarawak for an event. Ok, the truth was, I was just back for a holiday in my hometown and it so happened Anchor Food Professionals, the food service division of Fonterra Brands Malaysia is launching Anchor Say Cheese campaign, the second phase so far at Taka Cake House nearby the airport. Anchor Cheese is well known for a cheese and dairy lover like me, how can I not stop by to savour the sweet treats? Did you also know that Fonterra’s own in-house patisserie chefs only use top quality real butter, cream cheese, milk and cream from their own Anchor range, and all their dairy comes from free range cows in New Zealand.
Taka Cake House is nearly everywhere in Kuching, a very well known bakery to us locals, offering all kinds of baked goods.
Previously, Anchor had introduced Japanese inspired desserts using Anchor Cream Cheese, this time it is more European themed featuring delicious cakes and breads as well.
Watch out for these in the bakeries, The Chef’s Signature Series. These are the collection of fine and delectable cream cheese creations, if you love cheese, you are going to love these.
This is Almond Rosa (RM6.30), a nutty almond butter sponge cake with a rich layer of cream cheese. I really love the light texture and the rich cheese which is not too heavy.

This is Cheeznie, which has a thick layer of cream cheese sandwiched between two slices of decadent chocolate brownies and topped with chopped walnuts
What could be better than chocolate and cheese together? The choc is rich like dark chocolate. Therefor, it blends really well with the salty sweetness of cheese. Surely, the crunchy walnuts add to the already fantastic taste. One box is never enough.
If bread is more your taste, then try the First Love (RM3.20)
First Love is a sweet bread with brown sugar cream cheese in the center. The top is sprinkled with brown sugar on the top for that added crunch. The bun is big, and the cheese is very generous.
This is Lady Marmalade which is another cheesy bread concoction. There is an orange candied peel on top that is totally edible.
The filling is an orange cream cheese flavour, so it’s really refreshing. The chefs have perfected the dough for the bread until it doesn’t harden when chilled in the fridge.
I can eat the bread right out of the fridge with the cheese still cold and chilled. Please consume the cake and bread in 2 days to maintain freshness.
