The Ghostbusters Station In Sunway Lagoon Screampark

The Real Ghostbusters - Volume 3

Do you remember the Ghostbusters cartoon TV series from 1986?? I used to love watching them with cute (and gross) Slimer, can’t believe now that I was only 7-8 at the time and I used to collect the books and stickers and magazines all about the Ghostbusters. I believe the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man toy is still somewhere in my mum’s house. Now the new movie is even out in the cinema, and this Sunway Lagoon attraction is created with characters found in the new movie.

That’s why I’m so excited to share with you that Ghostbusters station is now in Lynton V. Harris Scream Park Sunway Lagoon, an all new attraction, The Ghostbusters Adventure Live! I must admit first that I am timid hearted and had never entered the Scream Park before in my life! However, because it is the Ghostbusters, I decided that I need to visit it for sure.

The good thing is we get to go in in groups, but small groups of like 6-7 people. I knew that there will be ghouls and ghosts jumping out of nowhere when we least expect it to scare us, but my experience was beyond my imagination. It was dark, it was scary but above that, it was actually fun. The fun factor of going into the maze-like attraction was similar to that adrenaline rush of going through a roller-coaster. You know you will scream, you know your knees will go weak, you know it yet you still want to go through it.

I must admit, I was super reluctant to enter that day, I was bargaining in my mind, should I just tell the director that I will just go in and take pics and leave? No, I decided, it is a challenge I must accept, a personal challenge to face the fear! So together with strangers I had never met before, I entered the dungeon-like entrance, dark and smoky, huddled together, shuddering shamelessly.

For your information, I entered the maze twice, once to experience it with the public, once with the director and that was when I captured these pictures. No photography aloud during the experience, and this place really is not suitable for kids below 7 unless tears is what you wish to see. It was a relief to see a human, a Ghostbuster in his station. So many ghosts abound, they must not be doing their job right.

At Aldridge Mansion – New York’s oldest private home and museum, I spotted her, the murderous Gertrude Aldridge. The Aldridge Mansion looked really identical to the one in the movie! I love the amazing effects making her glow in the dark.

She posed for me, but don’t expect her to stand gracefully like this when you visit! She will probably jump out from a dark corner and try to spew invisible Ectoplasimic vomit on her nearest victim.

Mind you by this stage, I was holding hands with the woman in front of me, and the lady behind me was hanging tight to my backpack. A monstrous figure appeared basked in eerie green light, casting a larger than life shadow around us. Who was he, I didn’t stay to find out. He growled and snapped at us as I ran with my eyes looking at the floor to avoid seeing their faces!

Screams from the groups before and after mine permeates the air. We entered New York Subway’s Seward Street Station, the station reminded me of a horror movie setting, where zombies tend to roam and devour victims stuck in the train. I wish I could sit inside the train but no, I was running from ghouls, I had to continue running.
Untitled
We alighted to find ourselves in Old Zhu’s Chinese Restaurant, the new headquarters of the new all-female Ghostbusters. Chinese looking ghouls jump out left and right, one was pretty eerie that laughed instead of growled.
Untitled
Here’s a large angry Puft starring down at us. I would try to steer clear from windows and doorways, however, some walls open up as well.
Untitled
We passed Rowan’s basement and entered the infamous Mercado Hotel, set in iconic Times Square in New York, that was where possibly the scariest face I ever saw appeared with loud bangs. Yes, at that time even slamming doors made me jump out of my skin.

Untitled
I finally saw sunlight, I ran out as fast as I could. A harrowing 20 minute experience indeed, and I found that I was sweating profusely. Was it the adrenaline, was it the fear? I lost count the number of times I screamed. Yet, would I do it again? Yes I would. It was enthralling, riveting, authentic and real, yet you know it is not, so it is all good.

Opening hours will be from 11:00am to 6:00pm daily. 1. My daughter got spooked when the door opened and the ghostbuster jumped out and asked her who you’re gonna call… and she muttered “why me??!!” and the ghostbuster got surprised and recovered and said, ” ok, we are going to come in again…” hehehh

  2. I used to watch the Ghostbusters as well. Finally, this is at least something I can relate to and would enjoy. Would love to visit Sunway Lagoon Screampark soon.
