David Foster As AirAsia’s First Global Ambassador

When I was invited for this event with the above pic, I knew straight away who it was going to be, even though the name was not revealed until today. Hitman, the famous nickname for David Foster, the 16-time Grammy award winner and the man that produces HITS in songs and in artistes, is to be the very first AirAsia’s global ambassador. It was an extremely heart thumping experience as the bloggers and media wait in anticipation in the meeting room at The Majestic Kuala Lumpur today, anticipating the hitman’s appearance while the music in the background played softly from his song Love Theme from St Elmo with Kenny G on track and later serenaded us with I Will Always Love You with the late songstress Whitney Houston. There was no doubt by that time who was going to appear through the door made with the logo of AirAsia. The ever gorgeous TV Personality and Host Daphne Iking-Azmi finally took the stage to welcome the media and bloggers and Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, Group Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia, who just walked in. Tan Sri Tony gave an overview about why AirAsia decided to have a first global ambassador and also about the Premium services offered on AirAsia which are the Premium Flex and Premium Flatbed. “David is an old friend and we’ve created many hits together over the years. David is a legend and I’m looking forward to creating many more hits through this collaboration , especially on our Premium offerings. Premium Flex is a one of a kind product which offers travellers flexibility and value-for-money with complimentary 20 kg baggage, in-flight meal of their choice, up to 2 times flight changes with seat selection, priority baggage, check-in as well as boarding.” he explained.  Tan Sri Tony went on, “The partnership with David for our Premium Flex and our award-winning Premium Flatbed to start, will bolster both products to another level, creating a new market for us as we continue to evolve from being just a low-cost carried to a true valve-carrier with the best product proposition.” Exciting days are ahead for all AirAsia flyers as we also heard that the airplanes will soon be incorporating WIFI services for passengers.  And then literally with a big bang Mr David Foster appeared magically on stage as the AirAsia centrestage logo opened up as a door.

(Watch the video to get the feel!)   You can see the close bond between these two great men as they hugged and slapped each other’s backs before settling down for an interview with Daphne. It was a great interview where we heard from the Hitman himself about his love for airplanes (which he claimed he could name ALL airplanes in existence) , music and Tony Fernandez, which was why he is in this collaboration. He clearly have a great admiration for Tony, naming him as one of his inspirations in the business side besides his musical inspirations like Rihanna and Bruno Mars amongst many great names he mentioned. According to David, “AirAsia is a highly regarded brand that is nothing short of an amazing success story. Congratulations on the recent milestone of flying 300 million guests in a short span of only 14 years! I am happy to represent their excellent premium product range and I look forward to a great relationship with AirAsia as we embark on this partnership.” There might even be plans to put David Foster and his Grand Piano on the wings on the airplane, in painting of course, this is no magic show after all. We as AirAsia passengers can certainly look forward to even more exclusive campaigns that will feature David as well as many engagement activities to come..such as a lifetime opportunity to meet Foster at one of his concerts! How exciting! Thanks to AirAsia, we Malaysians will definitely be seeing this great and renowned musician, songwriter, composer, arranger, producer and recording artist with 16 Grammy Awards under his belt, a lot more than ever!
