Late last month, I received this in the mail, a bottle of Astaxanthin Supplement from Bio-life with 30 capsules for one month’s supply.
What is Astaxanthin?
Astaxanthin is a reddish pigment that belongs to a group of chemicals called carotenoids. It occurs naturally in certain algae and causes the pink or red color in salmon, trout, lobster, shrimp, and other seafood. (source from WebMD)
Bio-Life’s Astaxanthin is derived from the Microalgae, Haematococcus pluvialis which is a freshwater species of Chlorophyta from the family Haematococcaceae. According to WIKI, This species is well known for its high content of the strong antioxidant astaxanthin, which is important in aquaculture, and cosmetic.
According to Bio-Life, Astaxanthin protects the skin cells by acting as an powerful antioxidant to neutralize free radicals and slow down the aging process. I only need to take one capsule a day with meals. Usually I’d take it right after dinner. At my age, I am definitely always on the lookout for natural antioxidant to fight the natural aging process.
The pills are red maroon in colour and pretty small, so it’s easy to swallow for those who hate swallowing pills. There is no strong odour on the pills as well. I will be giving a full review of this product in a couple of days after consuming it for 2 weeks. Read my 14 days use review here with the Anti Aging Care Supplement.
