Crab Island

Today was a much needed public holiday for slaves in Selangor, so we decided to pay a visit to Pulau Ketam (translated as Crab Island) off Port Klang. It was a really long journey, left Kajang at 8am only to reach there around 11.30am….1 hour on the ferry from Port Klang. I’ve never been there before, so it was a pretty interesting trip.

Pulau Ketam is where crabs rule and die been eaten by the hungry mankind. So yea if you’re a crab living on the muddy island beach…you’re probably the non edible kind.

Anyways, I found the place really neat, a small community of mostly Teochew people living in a tiny island, connected by narrow roads only bicycles and motorbikes can ride in…fighting with each other to make a living, to make a name as the next best seafood restaurant…

There are only 3 main roads in the small town, houses are separated by tiny gates, some built on stilts, lots of modified bicycles with motor and motorbikes with electric engines…hhm. We walked all over the island, invading people’s housing areas, spying at fishermen mending their nets in their boats, trying to shoot eagles, etc. So much to do in a small place like that. But there’s nothing better to do in Pulau Ketam than to eat seafood, and crabs of course, and the crabs here are real huge. Welcome to the land of the giant crabs.

It took more than an hour to finish all that…yum…cost more than RM50 per person though. Oh yea, I love the place….especially the food. Worth the long hours riding on the train.

What do I say, read my stuffs and get to know me.
