Samsung is definitely very punctual with their annual phone launches, as exactly 1 year after I reviewed the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G, here I am now unboxing and giving you my first impressions of its successor, the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G. Samsung has recently launched this mid-range smartphone which promises to deliver awesome performance, design, camera and battery at an affordable price. I got my hands on one of these phones and here are my first impressions.
Yes, I’m still getting used to how slim phone boxes are nowadays, since they do not come with the adapter. I definitely approve of phones coming without them for the benefit of the earth. We tend to carry a few phones per person now and we don’t really need to charge them all at once, so one charger for all our phones is actually enough. I use only 1 adapter for 2 phones and 2 tablets.

The box does come with at least the cable and the pin, very useful. The first thing that caught my eye was the phone’s color. The Awesome Violet shade is a stunning deep purple that gives the phone a unique and elegant look. However, though violet is my favourite colour, it wasn’t about the colour that caught my attention.

It is probably impossible to show you in the photo or video, but the colour changes and shines when it’s turned in certain angles. This special colour is really only found in the A series and not the S series.

I also noticed the cameras that used with the quad camera has now removed the depth camera, I guess it is for the better, minimizing certain features to increase others. The triple rear camera setup consists of a 48MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 5MP macro camera. The main camera can capture sharp and detailed photos even in low-light conditions popular with all Samsung Cameras that supports Nightography . The ultra-wide camera can fit more in the frame with a 123-degree field of view. The depth camera can create natural bokeh effects for portraits.
The phone also has a 13MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. The selfie camera has features like Auto Framing, which adjusts the frame to fit the group perfectly, and AI Image Enhancer, which reduces blur and noise while increasing the resolution of the photos. The Galaxy A34 5G has some unique features like Object Eraser, Photo Remaster, AI Image Enhancer and Auto Framing for the camera, while the Galaxy A33 5G does not have these features

The most obvious improvement is the screen size and smoothness as it now has an increase refresh rate from 90Hz to 120Hz, a most welcome feature. The screen is also a little bit bigger compared to last year’s A33. However, to save battery, I can always set it to 60Hz when I’m not browsing extensively or playing games.

Performance and Battery
The Galaxy A34 5G has an increased storage to 256GB of internal storage. The phone supports 5G connectivity for fast and smooth internet browsing, streaming and gaming. The phone runs on Android 13 OS with OneUI interface, which offers a user-friendly and customizable experience. It also has a whopping 5,000mah battery capacity with support for fast charging. I found that it can usually last more than two days on single charge, provided that I don’t do any gaming.

Conclusion
The Galaxy A34 5G is an impressive mid-range smartphone that offers awesome features for its price range of only RM1599. It has a stunning display, a versatile camera system, a powerful performance and a long-lasting battery. It also has some unique features like IP67 rating, OIS, Object Eraser and Photo Remaster that make it stand out from the crowd. I will be using it a bit longer before I write another more indepth review of this phone. Till then, do check out the promotions going on online now, as with all the new launches, it usually ships with loads of freebies.
