Smurfs Live in Genting International Showroom

I grew up watching the Smurfs Cartoon on TV. Yes I’m a Xennial…the Smurfs debuted on TV in the early 80s. I still remember we would sit around the Tv everyday at 5.30pm to watch these mysterious dancing and singing blue creatures of the forest rescuing the earth every time.

Suffice to say, the younger generation have no idea who are the Smurfs except for that movie that came out in 2011 and some Happy Meal Toys from McD that I now use as deco in my garden. I thought it would be a great chance to introduce my childhood cartoons to my kids aged 6 and 9. There’s nothing they won’t love about the Live show, full of lights and colours and singalong songs.

gargamel
Gargamel is the Smurfs ultimate arch nemesis. He is always all out to kill the Smurfs so that he can make them into gold. It must be noted that Gargamel is a Dark Wizard. In this 70 minutes Live performance in Genting International Showroom, ‘The Smurfs Save Spring’, Gargamel actually stole the show with his funny dances and burst of songs. Irritating as he may be, I would say he was the main highlight.

The other ‘human’ character that really made an impact was Mother Nature. Unperturbed by the large costume and headgear, Mother Nature played her role to the T. funny and charismatic throughout.

Of course, this is a show about the Smurfs. I love how they inject every scene with songs and dances that the children love. Also the stage changes were perfectly done, using digital imagery and live props that gave a sense of watch the real cartoon but with giant sized smurfs. You might wonder how the Smurfs interact with Gargamel and Mother Nature since they are supposed to be tiny. Well, the show used hand puppets in the most creative manner, you would need to come and see it for yourselves.

The adorable blue creatures of the forest will be taking over the stage at the Genting International Showroom from May 26 to June 24, 2018 just in time for the very long school holidays. So it’s a great time to bring the children up to enjoy the cool breeze and Sky Avenue while catching the Smurfs show.
