I had heard so many great things about this Japanese owned Hair Salon, Daisuke Salon De Coiffure for the longest time, also because Mamasan Tammy does her amazing hair there, and I always wished that I could get a hair makeover there as I was super bored with my long long locks. So when I got the opportunity last month, I was over the moon and super excited about it. So here was my final pic of my untouched virgin hair, that had not gone through any styling for years besides a scalp treatment by La Biosthetique. I had grown my hair this long just so that it would be easy to style it into something different later so this day was the day I was waiting for.
This salon is located in Three Two Square in PJ, and I love the setting of the place, there is even a bicycle in there. Prior to visiting the hair stylist, learn the latest prices at Salon Rates.
There are lots of flowy white curtains to create partitions for some privacy, and every chair is facing a huge top to bottom mirror for you to admire your whole self. Myhairclippers recently wrote a piece on this venue, they had very good things to say about the staff, the vibes and the quality products. It’s hard enough to find a good haircut in the city, thankfully this place has us covered.
There are cute artsy deco and the walls are uncovered bricks, giving it a very urban feel.
I get to do my hair in a covered corner space, this is great for privacy and also makes me feel like a queen. I was also served fantastic brown rice green tea, kind of the same taste as the one from Sakae Sushi.
To start off, I was given a scalp scan, I had done this a few times and I was always told that I have oily clogged scalp that could lead to hair loss, if you check out YourHairLossExpert.com. However, Amanda Choo, my stylist for the day, and also the salon manager and senior stylist told me that rather than oily it is dry, that is why my scalp is producing oil. My scalp is not that bad just the pores are a bit clogged and need some tender loving cleansing care. So she recommended that I do the Tansan Scalp Treatment with CO2 (RM99). Daisuke Salon is one of the very few salons in Malaysia that have the CO2 Carbonated Water Hair Wash. It is very cool and really can remove a lot of impurities! Let’s see why.
This was the product in foam that was applied on my scalp bit by bit and massaged in. I use foam too at home for face cleansing and I know how great it is to be able to lift off the dirt.
After that, my hair was covered in this steam machine for ten minutes. At first, I thought this will be warm type of steam but it was actually cold. I could see steam coming out of my hair but it was a nice soothing cooling feel to my scalp! After this, I get to go to the wash area to wash off all the foam and dirt and ta daa….
The water with all the gooey dirt that came off..my head definitely felt totally clean and lighter. I think my scalp had been bad as I was using shampoo that contained silicone. I love the CO2 wash by the way, it was like super pumped up water that massaged the scalp while cleansing, very strong and bubbly that they had to use a tower to cover around my face to not splash on me. I had known for a long time that healthy scalp equals healthy mane, so this is definitely a great treatment to go for once a month.
After the wash, Amanda started working her magic on me by giving me a hair cut using a hair dryer for natural hair. I opted for shorter but not too short. I was even ok up to shoulder level, but Amanda decided to leave some of my original curls behind so that I would be easier for me to style as I wanted something easy to maintain. I know short hair means I have to go for touch ups every few months. I was surprised when Amanda told me she already looked at my selfies on instagram earlier and had a vision for my new hair style and hair colour. I just put my total trust in her because I just believe she knows what she’s doing. Hair cut and blue dye would cost about RM280-RM300.
After the cut, which I was given bangs, the bleaching process started using Bondplex that doesn’t damage hair. (Around RM250) This was the longest process as there were three rounds of bleaching done around my hair end using gradation method. I was told that this technique is not the easiest but it’s the most beautiful, it’s all about timing and precision to make the original colour blend to the new colour naturally so there isn’t like a line or border of separation. Needless to say, I was most pleased with Amanda’s work though be warned that it took really long. Thankfully I brought nuts and granola to much on else I would have starved. However, the staffs were super kind, they did ask if I wanted to buy anything for dinner and there were many cafes in the area and even Starbucks was just outside.
After the bleach, my hair at that time was like blond colour. I went through another round of CO2 wash which was so nice. Then it was back to the chair for the blue dye. Yes Amanda chose blue for my to my surprise, it was the first time I would go for such an unconventional colour, but I did tell her I wanted some different, so I agreed! I initially thought it would not be bright blue as my hair dye normally never look any different except when under the sunlight, but Amanda assured me that it was her job to make it clear.
The dye by the way is chemical free. It didn’t take as long as bleaching and after it was done, I had a wash and a three step hair treatment called NHT that was made to protect the hair after being bleached and dyed. This treatment is about RM125. Â It is very important to do daily treatment after this to ensure the hair remain healthy. I noted that all the staffs there were super effective. I even got a few tips on how to use a wave iron at home and now I can get the gorgeous professional look right at home. Even thought it was a weekday, there were quite a few customers around, and whenever one of them was busy with another customer, another staff would come and attend to me. Sometimes two of them would do my hair at the same time to save time too.
Amanda gave me another round of snipping to make it perfect. I love these people, not only were they friendly and fun, but really have a spirit of excellence, I could literally feel Amanda’s passion in her work with me. She was like wanting to be there from beginning to end, even though I was the last customer, nobody was in a rush to go back. My next beauty treat is a spa near me.
Final touches from Daisuke san himself for some photo taking.
The final result! The back of my hair was looking great, I love the gradation.
This is like the summary of the whole process.
This was taken on the spot with Amanda before I left, where the blue was really clear and strong.
Some people told me that the colour will fade very fast, but apparently it is still very strong after 3 weeks. It took a while to get used to the new look, but now I am totally rocking it! Do look for Amanda at Daisuke Salon if you are bored with your look and want something different. No worries, you get to choose the style and colour that you want, options are always open.
