I really love online shopping because it is so convenient. All my clothes, gadgets, gifts, are mostly bought online. Sometimes I also sell my valuable preloved or new things online that I am not using. Recently, I got to know of Shopee, a mobile marketplace that I could use to buy and sell online. Truth be told, there had been a few of similar mobile apps mushrooming in Malaysia and I had used them to sell a few things successfully. However, Shopee does have an edge that some do not, such as security for example.
What is Shopee?
Shopee is a mobile marketplace designed for both buyers and sellers to enjoy fast, smooth and safe transactions. Just using their in-app functions, I can easily find my preloved stuffs like makeup, clothes, gadgets etc. and turn them into cash. Plus, Shopee Guarantee ensures that the seller ships only after the buyer has paid, and the buyer’s payment is transferred to the seller only after receiving the product. Shopee aims to create a simple and secure mobile marketplace for everyone to buy and sell, anytime, anywhere.
I tried searching for preloved iPhones on Shopee, there are a few sellers listing them for a fair deal. As you know the iPhone 6s is coming out here in Malaysia soon, I’m sure many will be selling their older models, even the 5s is still a great phone to have. I think Shoppers have the ability to request COD too for really expensive things like phones.
When you see something you like but you want to haggle the pricing, you can actually use the chat to make your offer. For eg. if the iPhone is selling at RM2880 you can make an offer of RM2500 and see if the seller accepts it. If the seller accepts, you have a deal and you can continue the chat to talk about payment and meet up etc.
My listing is immediately successful. I can share my Shopee site to anyone as it is accessible from the PC too. Yea you heard me right, even though it is made for the mobile, it can actually work on the PC browser too.
Personally, Shopee is like the alternative to Mudah or Lazada. Anyone can upload their things to sell, and anyone can buy. Exercise your own judgement when searching for the things you want as Shopee cannot be responsible about the authenticity of the items or the seller.
Benefits of selling & buying on Shopee vs Instagram
1. Free for all
Shopee app is free for all smartphone users (Android and iOS) to download and use. Shopee does not charge in anyway, it is a platform for sellers to explore without having the concerns of payment.
2. Privacy matters
With ‘Chat’ function, conversation is kept within the app and personal between seller and buyer. Does not require the seller to expose personal contact details to buyers. This is super important, I had sold something on another app only to have the buyer keep smsing me non stop as she was not pleased with the item even after checking it during COD.
3. Easy payment
Buyers can make payment for all items via credit card and online banking. No hassle of having to go to the machine to make payment.
Sellers can avoid the hassle of having to cross check all bank transfer/payment made via credit card or online banking for their items. Shopee will do all the matching to ensure all payment is correct.
6. Social media
Having said all that, check out Shopee App for yourself and start browsing to see if you can find the thing you want. You can even check out my Shopee store which I will be using to add more things later. As a new Shopee user, there is another added benefit. Shop with Shopee today and use the Code: ILOVESHOPEE and get RM10.00 off with a minimum spend of RM30. As a buyer and a seller, I believe I will definitely be using this app a lot to find that best deal!
There is one more app I am currently using to get some help with accounting. If you are interested, get your 2019 Quickbooks Self-Employed 50% off discount code here and learn more about this app.
