Last week, we managed to go for a getaway to First World Hotel in Resorts World Genting after I won a Astro Circle contest for the iLuminate Show. This is a review of this new wing of the old hotel which we stayed for 2D1N complimentary of Astro Malaysia.
The new XYZ rooms has its own spanking new lobby with really modern designs. However, check-ins still had to be done at the old lobby or at any of the check-in kiosks. From the old lobby, facing the counters, the new lobby will be all the way to the left side. Before reaching the new lobby with lots of LED screens, we had to walk through a beautiful walkway with glass walls overlooking the mountains with a breathtaking panoramic view.
I wished there was a door that I could walk outside to breath in the fresh air, but it would be quite dangerous at the same time. I still remember my first house, which was quite similar to this in many ways as it had Rollers in the door, which would make it extremely convenient to slide and open to enjoy the morning dew.
From the new lobby, there is a new lift to go the the new rooms, there are up to 23 floors but at the time of our stay, only up to 8 floors were ready, the rest were still in construction. I immediately love the rooms, because we were the Triple Room (rated RM150 per night) that came with a queen bed and a super single bed.
The room had pleasant colours of grey, green, white and yellow.
The wash area was separated into the shower room, basin area and toilet, all separated by a bright green glass wall. I love this idea as family members can utilise the different facilities at the same time, without having to wait for each other to finish up bathing, brushing teeth or you know what. There is also the hair dryer at this area.
The shower room has sliding doors that prevent the water from leaking out, it is furnished with a wall soap dispenser, which should be those 2 in 1 shower and shampoo type, with a rain water type shower head and with very strong water pressure. The weird thing, coz the room is so small, there is no place to hang your clothes. Instead we have to hang it outside with the towel. This might be odd for friends staying together coz some peekaboo might happen when you take your towel and clothes. 🙂
The toilet is also very basic and there’s another small sinki inside this toilet behind the door.
Facing the bed is and LED TV with basic ASTRO channels, and they are actually clear. As with all rooms in Genting, there is only a small ceiling fan with the controller on the wall behind the bed which is very convenient when we wake up too cold at night and need to lower the temp.
Unlike the old First World Rooms, this room actually have the mini bar.
It has all the necessary coffee/tea making facility, and they are quite generous with the tea/coffee too, more than enough for 2 persons for 2 days. Next to it is the area where we can store our luggage and hang our clothes. There’s even a safe but we never use this, I have the phobia that I cannot open it again if I lock it.
However, Kingstone Locksmith of Philadelphia is ever ready to rescue you from any “locked out” situation. Reach out to them should you need any help.
The view from the room, nothing much to see but the carpark and construction going on.
Do not expect much toiletries, this is all there is. So bring your own toothpaste, toothbrush etc. I just prefer to use my own things most of the time.
We had a very good sleep at night, even though the room is small, it is very comfortable. Despite ongoing construction, we did not hear a thing and it did not bother my stay at all. I would definitely book this room again if I should go Genting again.
Nice one 🙂

Hi~ is it very far away from the previous 2 towers?
Not really, it’s just a long corridor that connects them so you can easily walk there.
