Hotel Review: Rumah Rehat Slim River

Last weekend, we went on a short trip to Slim River and stayed overnight at Rumah Rehat Slim River or Slim River Guest house, very near to where John was having his MTB Jamboree. This is a government owned guest house with semi D chalets. Very cheap, only RM90 a night and cheaper for government servants too. I wasn’t too keen on it when booking this place but other places were fully booked so no choice. However, upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised at the really big room.

We took the family room so it came with a queen bed and a single bed. The beds were nice and comfortable. The room has a single unit aircond, kettle, mugs, LCD TV, wardrobe, attached bath with hot water, and even has a balcony. Cleanliness is overall ok if you don’t look behind the wardrobe! It doesn’t have a mini bar or coffee though.

Bathrooms come with the shower only. The facilities are a bit worn out, even the toilet bowl is not stuck to the ground, it moves. Towels were given and packets of shampoo and soap too. The room floor is tiled which can be hazardous with a toddler around. After coming out of the bathroom it is so slipper, Jordan did fall at least four times in this room.

Besides the chalet, there was really nothing around the guest house for entertainment save for a tiny playground. Slim River is also a very small town with not even a shopping mall around. The nearest tourist attraction was at Sg Klah Hot Springs, another half hour drive away. It was a good place or getaway for just resting for being such a quiet place, or maybe a good getaway with family and friends.
